An alternative is to take the downward 'escalator'

This is where the bus leaves for Pattaya, and someone will always offer you a 'taxi' for about 1000-1200 baht to Pattaya, inclusive of tolls and parking. Did it today!

Don't know if it's been mentioned elsewhere, but I believe Jan and Paul (lostinspace) have moved up country.

At least if you go by taxi then you can enjoy your own company. The bus option sounds like it might take a bit longer and you might be the only westerner on there if that flight from Bombay landed a short time before.
