Getting married in the vil (already married in USofA)

 

need preferabbly first hand info on hotel in Chiang Mai

 

prefer country setting, quite, not a freaking highrise :)

 

will be spending time in Bkk after so dont need the city stuff

 

any help with names would be appreciated

You may get some ideas from sawadee.com, they have some nice places listed out of town. I can't name them for you, as I have always stayed near the Night Bazaar. Places like Mai Rim or Mai Ai look nice.

Have personally stayed at Suan Bua Hotel the last time being Feb 2009. Very romantic setting, beautiful grounds and great large rooms. Very, Very, Very quiet hotel. It is only about 20 minutes from downtown Chiang Mai. Close to the Nite Safari. It is in area that is know for the garden resorts. Quite a few hotels in the hills that follow this theme but I liked this one the best..

If you can afford it book a junior suite. Great room, free drinks from 5-7pm in the open air lounge.

Don't book direct from the hotel website most of the time can get cheaper prices from www.sawasdee.com or www.asiatravel.com

I took wife and kids there..parked the car up and immediately thought "Oh fuck what have I done"...but the lakeside huts REALLY are done out Western style inside...You can stroll hand in hand around the lake...nearby you can get a horse and cart ride around the local town...and you can take a drive up to the Lampang Elephant centre/hospital..

 

 

Don't know if it suits you but we loved it....
