Sophon TV Channels

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know where I can find a list of all the english speaking channels on Sophon or Banglamung Cable?

Am moving soon and don't want to get Truevisions.

You don't want sophon either. I've had it for 6 months, there are several english news channels, and a few movie, network type channels. Two less that when I got it. I'm moving to true. Dropping two channels tells me that they don't want my business. They sould change the name to "all reruns, all the time" In one day, you can see everything that's going to be shown in the next week or two. Sophon sucks big time.

For the price, it is reasonable.

I get to see live Premiership football, English Language films, several English Language news channels and the TGF gets her Thai soap operas... for 3000 baht/year.... yes year. If you want to pay that for a couple of months, have to put some silly receiver on your roof, have decoder boxes cluttering up your house.... not forgetting needing one with each TV that costs, sure, go with True.

It is marginally passable but you wouldn't want to have only Sophon. I think the Thais can get all their crap on True/UBC but Jacko is right about some football being on Sophon when I last looked at it (and not on UBC). UBC extra room is about Bt450 extra a month more (separate box and remote and cabling). We have it in the bedroom as well and in Pattaya had Sophon for something like the Bt3000 Jacko states.

The thing with Sophon is that they continually changed stuff, cut programmes off before they finished, never started them, deleted them etc. It is a totally amateur service with only old stuff except sports and news.

If I was setting up a service now, I'd have a satellite linked to my PC and run everything through that and HDMI to my televisions.

Your point and heart are in the right place but really -- what satellite? The satellite services are xrappier than the commercial services, except for fans of Burmese dancing and Indian Ramayana contests. Not much is free to air these days, and if you have a satellite you'll either get very little useable TV, *or* you'll go nuts trying to pay the decoding companies/pirates while keeping your satellite dish rotating properly.

Not so. Your information would seem to be either incorrect, outdated or both.

Sophon is awful-spring for the TruVision deals though their field support in awful as they don't work on weekends.
I have not had many issues with Sophon, although when I lived more central it would frequently vanish for an hour or two mid-morning, as, I presume, they were expanding or maintaining the network.

Once or twice I called them out and had maintenance guys in the street soon after climbing poles.

I have always found them pleasant and helpful in the office too.

Compared to TOT, they are quite wonderful..... :allright

No mention of TMN cable TV which is available in the Darkside area and from what i've seen in a couple of houses and bars in the area it looks fine to me.

I'll stick with UBC for picture quality which isn't top quality but better than cable.
