Displayed prices are for multiple nights. Check the site for price per night. I see hostels starting at 200b/day and hotels from 500b/day on agoda.

Mt Ttaxi has changed and has a website

I think calling the official taxis extortion is a bit OTT.

That title can be handed to some of the touts who assault you as you come into the arrivals hall, tell you 2000 baht, get the cash up front then make you sit around until the vehicle arrives, then he drives you to a petrol station and may or may not swap you into his friends car! :beer

The taxicabs, at 1500 (+50 baht waiting charge I think) isn't so bad. They seem to be good vehicles, the queue is often only a few minutes wait, and it seems more comfortable than having to traipse to the car park in 37 degC. I wouldn't say it is affluence, more tiredness that makes me waste 350 baht after travelling 17 hours.

jacko,

The two booths have been replaced with 2 lots of 5-6 counters and is really quite efficient now. The taxi drivers are all lined up on the other side of the counters and a call of "Pattaya pan song" normally attracts a rush of volunteers from them. The folk at the counters seemed quite happy as long as you do it with a smile.

Well that sounds good, a price drop! Still have to add 50 baht and tolls?

Sorry - I should have explained that a bit better. The official fare is still 1,500 but if you call out an offer of 1,200, you'll get plenty of takers. As I said, doing it with a smile gets the result and, yes, it's 1,200++.

I use service of Mr Toom many times, he's very serious and honest ! Everything OK

Yes so have I without issue. Although he let a neighbour down when he had to go to the airport early.

He never called a warning, and later claimed the original vehicle was in an accident. It is hard to accept 'excuses' in Thailand as they make so many and a high % are pure BS.
