Local football matches in Pattaya

Recommended Posts

I sa there a local football team I can watch in Pattaya, I'm there in a few days and would love to see a live match. I've seen the shirts on sale in the market, so I know there is something going on, but where and when?

It's a great afternoon out mate, you should definately try it. Costs 60baht entrance, with that you get a free matchday programme (amusingly they have Pattaya Utd songs / chants printed at back of programme). :clueless

To get there, just ask for Nongprue Stadium, the BB drivers and motocy guys will know it. Also, if you're looking to have a bevvy whilst watching the game, (there is no alcohol served in the ground), a stall is set up just outside the stadium, where they will pass cans of Leo through the railings for you.. think about 30 baht each.

Hope this helps mate, enjoy the game :o

Thanks for the replies, looks a great time to be had, I'm arriving in Pats on 18th and will be going to what looks like the last game of the season at home on 24th October, if the website is correct. Have never seen any football in THailand, can't wait to see a game. Get so fed up watching football on TV. Will let you have a report when I've been, on the whole experience.

It's a great atmosphere it's 60 Baht entrance and that includes the program.

If you see Adam in Cherry bar he always arranges a Minibus with 8-10 lads. They hit a darkside bar before and after the game they leave Cherry bar Soi 8 at 4pm so get there for 3.30pm have a beer first and it's 200 Baht each. And I can tell you it's great fun.

  • 2 weeks later...

Went to two games last week , KO 4.30 and 6 pm, first up was a league match, they won 2-1. Floodlights failed for 40 mins but got fixed and match and match carried on. Ground is in a college, and is basically temporary terracing, one side covered, and lots of food carts on hand. Great atmosphere and build up to the match and TV coverage. Admission is 60 baht and that includes a programme and access to most parts of the ground. I was suprised at the size of the crowd, approx 3,000, with prob 500 away fans. Man banging drum all game a bit annoying, so sat on opp side. there are two guys dressed as Thai warriors who run up and down waving flags, great fun. There are replica shirts and scarves on sale too.

It made a very nice break from pattaya, but the ground is a long way out of town, to get there you need taxi or mortorbike, but it is possible to walk in about 1+ hr. Up central road, cross Sukhumvit by the foot bridge, and continue along Siam Country Club ( under the big archway) road for about 3 miles. Ground is Nong Prue by a large temple.

Standard is high - lots of passing an no long balls hoofed up from the back, didnt see any bad fouls. - prob ( for UK readers) div 1-2 Coca Cola standard.

Thinkl the season is now over unfortunately but the cup must still be running.

second game I went to was a cup game, won 1-0, only about 1,00 there and no away fans. Quite a few farangs there and every one will make you very welcome
