E-Mail for Residence Garden?

Recommended Posts

Has someone got an e-mail for the RG?

Or does the contact form work for asking a question or 2 even if not booking?

I had it somewhere, the chap's name was Ib, IIRC.

I need to know how good the wi-fi is in a room as i will have to work when visiting, not a lot but enough and also what they accept for payment as I prefer to use Visa for everything I can.

Their e-mail is ottesen@loxinfo.co.th. The wi-fi was spotty last month, some days it worked and some days it did not. The internet cafe next door is now closed. They accept Visa, and will hold a room without an apparent charge. Still my favorite place to stay in Pattaya. John

Thanks. I use a virtual VPN and it doesn't have to be rocket fast. There is a place on Soi 6 with a huge room that looks good as well. Queen Victoria, no idea if it is noisy but for stepping for some visiting it certainly is close to Soi 6, being on Soi 6.

Not just not-fast, but sometimes it'll just be out for a while. Depending what room you're in, which wifi router you're hitting. I seem to remember regular outages in the morning or something once in one of the rooms. If you need to work at an exact time, it may not work out. If you're just checking e-mail and random surfing and don't really care if it's up or down at any particular moment, it's ok.

I still like the place, but the internet could certainly be better. :banghead

I had the exact same experience. Weak signal, inconsistent connection. When it works, it's OK. :o

No just an hour or so a day. The time difference won't allow for much real time contact anyway other than 3 or 4 a.m. or 9pm to midnight.

As previous posters have said its very patchy and frustrating, great place to stay though.

Queen Vic imo is better location wise, with great rooms however, security turn off the server around 3am ish

The manager said he would sort it out for me but it did not happen, hence I did not return.

Well I wrote to the address on their site and then to Ib and he replied and then Da did and all was quite well done after that.

I'm at RG now and have staed here since January 30 and the Internet has not been down in this period. I have a -01 room and the signal strength is” very high”

I have previously lived in -04 and -05 rooms with the same result; it has been on 2 and 3 floor. I use the internet mostly in the afternoon; I hope you can use this.

I have booked RG for the 17th through May 1st.

Da got back to me after I wrote to Ib and arranged things.

What does laundry cost? I don't want to bring 3 weeks of clothes.

What are -01 or -04 rooms, the floor?

Are rooms smoking and non-smoking, all smoking or all non-smoking?

A 01 room is at the south end of the building of each floor up through the 6th floor (North America numbering--ground floor is 1st floor) and has real windows in the bedroom, which is nice. Never tried the WiFi so can't tell you whether it is better on one floor or another. Laundry in the RG itself is pricey. There are a couple of laundries close by which are much more reasonable.

What's pricey, in your view? Just need an idea of what you think is a lot. Where are the nearby laundries and what do they charge, by the piece, the pound , the bag?

Are there balconies in the rooms?

All of the rooms have balconies with plastic tables and chairs. The laundry across the street charges maybe 200 baht for 3-4 days of laundry. I have not really used the in house laundry but would quess it could be double. Just go and enjoy your self, every thing will sort it self out, you will make a few mistakes, we all have and still do. And it will not be long before you book your return trip.

Valid points. I am used to both ends of the spectrum on laundry. My hotel in Managua charged $10 for as much as you brought them and that was at an outside laundry they used for towels and sheets. The Sutton Place in Vancouver charged $3 a pair for underwear and $2 for socks and I was on the road for 5 weeks of that kind of pricing. My Managua laundry budget would wash one day of clothes. Though they did send a houseboy to get the clothes and returned them to your room on hangers and in the case of underwear and socks in a box tied with a ribbon and bow.

Can you smoke in the RG rooms or just balconies or both or neither?

Not the best person to ask about smoking/non-smoking but no signs posted and I seem to remember moving an ash tray on the coffee table.

In house laundry is by the piece and I would say you pay at least double what you would pay across the street. There is (was?) also a laundry a couple of doors down on the same side of the street.

The one across the street is a few doors down from the Food Mart so you will probably be going over there anyway.

I think I will if I can save 1/2 the cost.

They are a little dear on sending a car to the airport and returning there as well at THB 1900 to come down and THB 1700 to go back vis-a-vis Mr. T, etc. I wonder what 700 buys to justify that other than making a few bucks for the hotel which I guess is the main thing.

Not sure if RG sends a taxi if that is more reliable in terms of finding me and the RG. I can't imagine Mr. T or Toom can't figure out where the RG is.

Thanks for patiently answering questions with you being there it helps know things in advance. I travel a lot for business where costs and arrangements are not my worry and the hotels tend to be Hyatt and Intercontinental on corporate deals. Amazing nothing in Pattaya (OK, really not too amazing) but 50% off the rate in Hong Kong vs. the interweb so it pays to have connections where you can.

Print out the page on the RG site with the address in Thai. It serves to get you in the vicinity. I have had drivers who needed it.

Except their site doesn't show the name in Thai. Has a map though, in English.
