I stayed there many years ago,was definately not girl friendly then and absolutely the same now.

You would be much better off staying around Soi 7 or 8 on a first visit.Much cheaper than Amari too.

There are two Amari hotels at the same location. The Ocean Tower and Garden Wing.

I stayed at the Ocean Tower.

From the attitude of the staff you feel that it's not really girl friendly but they never asked for a joiner fee when I stayed there.

I any case make certain that you check in for 2 people and tell them at that your "friend" will arrive later. Most of the time this is enough to avoid the joiner fee.

There are lots of very good hotels available for around 1000 baht per night, I am talking about newish hotels with balconies, free internet and a swimming pool ...... and they are girl friendly.

Unless you are mega-rich you you not stay at the Amari/Holiday Inn/Marriot.

Do a search and you will find lots of great hotel rooms for a very reasonable rate, very clean air conditioned rooms with WiFi can be had for about 500 per night.

The standard drops once you go below 400 per night but there are some awful rooms being sold for 1500 + to people that have not done research.

I stayed there in 2005 and had no problems taking girls back with no joiner fee, even had to get security to boot one out ! No idea what the situation is now however.
