At first I thought how effing tasteless.....but then I thought of some Aussies that I served with in the British Army.. and thought effing great!!

I can't think of a better way to celebrate a soldier's sacrifice but good grub, a good laugh with mates and a good shag!!

Have a good one mate!! :clueless

I think that this is a great idea. It could be tacky but for people away from home it is at the least where ANZACS can just focus their minds for a few minutes and if you have done that then the idea was a success. I wont be there but its also worth mentioning that their is a link between the Thai people who suffered dreadfully in the last war and the allied troops. I was lucky enought to spend an Armistice Day (November 11th) at Kanchanburi (spelling?) where there is the mythical-sort of, Bridge over the River Kwai and it was a great event with Aussies everywhere.

ANZAC Day seems very similar to Veteran's Dan in America, were we honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. Usually, a memorial service and parade all over USA. This is followed by BBQ parties. I am sure there is no disrespect intended for tonight's celebration. :clueless

No, that is not what is honoured or celebrated on Veterans' Day in the US.

However, the ignorance around such events as ANZAC Day and the US Veterans' Day, and their tacky, tasteless "sales" such as hot girls and money-grubbing business as usual definitely is growing. Excuse me, but I won't be celebrating the Pattaya sales on hot girls or the US sales on hot bargains. These are weak-spined, dreadful people trying to cash in on the achievements, losses and sacrifices of others.

No way I'd try to interfere with with tasteless and ultimately cowardly actions - after all, that's their rights, and what veterans fought for. I'd like them just a little bit better if they'd admit they are the crass, tasteless and back-stabbing tinkers and petty peddlers that they are, that's all.

Why dont you just chill out and show some fucking respect for the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZACs)?

Australians remember this day in a very special way, RESPECT (at the many dawn services) followed by a celebration of their (the ANZACs) efforts.

It's not an American holiday so leave them out of it!

My Grandfather was a survivor from Gallipoli and I am proud to say I have a connection to someone who helped define the word "bravery".

Australians dont (as a rule) show disrespect for other countries "celebrations" of their fallen heroes - so why do you want to turn this into a controversy (thereby showing disrespect). If you have nothing positive to say about this national holiday : SHUT THE FUCK UP!

To all our friends from across the ditch ---- Lest We Forget.

Cheers :gulp: Ken

I had the honour of walking in an Anzac Day parade when in Australia. Then a few beers and comradeship with many, many comrades. I remember that and always will.
