Best way to travel to Hua Hin from Pattaya

Recommended Posts

Many years ago there used to be a daily ferry from Hua Hin via Cha Am to Pattaya. One of the travel shops in Soi Post Office used to run a boat on this route every Thursday in high season and I went in January 2003. The service had stopped in June and July and is unlikely to resume. However it is worth checking, the trip is very pleasant in good weather.

Some of the speedboats especially at Pratamnak beach advertise trips, these are very expensive and potentially unsafe it is a long way and you don't want to be 35 miles from land if you get caught in a squall in an open speedboat.

Using Bangkok airways you can fly from U Tapao to Koh Samui and from there to Hua Hin but it is a bit expensive. Otherwise take a taxi (Mr. Boon & Friend, Soi Bhukhao, 038 720148, 2500Bt), or bus to BKK then bus or train to Hua Hin. The train takes longer.

[glow=red,2,300]Thank you for your ideas.  I figure the most practical way would be to go with either the taxi or the bus (but I dread the long rides on the public buses).  The air route sounded good except for the prohibitive prices.  I'm not much into long rough sea boat rides.  I know the nightlife isn't much to brag about in Hua Hin, but I just wanted to visit other resort areas in Thailand. If you go by bus from Pattaya to Ekkamai bus station in Bangkok you'll then have to take a taxi across the city to the Southern bus station which is way the hell across the river in Thonburi.  From there it'll be 3+ hours to Hua Hin.

its only 2 hours 15 from the southern bus terminal,

theres a new road

a few years ago you could travel by mini-bus from

pattaya to huahin 400baht but i did not see it advertised

any more it ran 2 times a week, you could ask in any  travel agents.but it is ashit trip in a mini-bus it took

7 hours.a taxi for 2000 sounds like a good deal

i was wondering if a bus from the airport might

be ok,mini bus to airport-airport bus to southern bus terminal-blue bus to hua hin? to cut out the taxi ride

across bangkok.i like the blue public bus it always seems

safer than mini-bus.in january i shall do bkk-pattaya-samui-hua hin trip only not sure pattaya or hua hin first
