You will not find a bare boat charter in Patttya, and even if you did you would not want to do it  for many reasons. A private boat to Kohlan Island  the main island off Pattaya will cost about 1500 baht. That is take you to the Island drop off and pick you up at a time you state.  Most captains this time of year will just drop anchor and wait because business is slow.

Or if you want to go to other Islands, or several islands the boats can be hired for 4000 to 6000 baht per day. It is up to you as to what you plan upon doing. Please note that some of the beaches are private and the local owners will want a landing fee also from you.

You can also take the ferry to Kohlan Island for 20 baht each way, and then take a taxi to a quite beach. Speed boats are available on Kohlan Island too.

One last point if you hire a private boat (non ferry) do not pay a single baht until the trip is over and you are back at Pattaya. Sometimes the captains when prepaid don't return for you.

The cost to hire a speed boat from the main Island is about the same as from Pattaya Beach. But it is more supply and demand because if things are busy you may not find a god deal.  About landing fees sometimes their are none and it is all up to the owner of the beach. On Island that belong to the Kingdom no fee for landing.

The water at the Islands is much cleaner than Pattaya Beach and is nice for swimming. Prices for most services are not fixed they are based on what you will pay and what the seller will take.

You can hire a speed boat for 1500 baht to take you to and from Kohlan Island,  the other Islands would cost much more or just hire for the day. It takes about 30 minutes to go from Pattaya Beach to Kohlan Island.

I haven't been yet but it is something I want to do on a future trip, and neither are very commercialized.  Here is some info from a magazine.  Samet Island-1 hour ride from Pattaya.  Beaches that surpass Ko Samui and Phuket in quality of sand and cleanliness.  Check with one of the many little travel agencies in Pattaya, they can hook you up with transportation there and accommodations.  Ferry to island 50 baht and national park fee  200 baht.  Chang is down by Trat which is 270 km south of Pattaya and there are another 46 islands in this area.  This area is even less commercialized than Samet.  Bungalows available if you want to rough it.  Again check with those travel agencies for the details.

I stayed in Koh Samet last December. Nice place to get away. Non Aircon room was 500 baht at that time. Couple of small bars/clubs open air on the beach. Also was a nice resturant that served dinner right on the beach. Pretty clean water and renting a motorbike to explore the island is a must. Just watch out for all the holes in the dirt roads. Also need to take a TG with you as they are very limited on the island.

If you like to be squashed in a minivan and make several stops before you leave Pattaya then going thru a travel agency is fine.  If you don't like to wait around for others then an alternative is to hire a taxi.  You have several choices on 2nd road between Soi 7 and 8 and it cost 700 baht to Ban Phe(for Ko Samet) and 600 back.  I thought it was 400 or 450 per person for just the tour transport anyway so if you take a terac, it isn't too much more and it's way nicer.  Take the ferry over to Na Dan and rent a motorbike or walk along til you find something you like.  Lots of choices and should be more now.  Try and go during the week as the locals like to go there on  the weekends.

TAKE INSECT LOTION!!

Cheers
