Supply shortages leading to higher prices

Recommended Posts

Just came by road from Udon to Nakhon Phanom and saw lots of rice ready for harvest. Wonder if the floods will result in a better selling price for the folks who do have rice to sell. Sorry, but when you grow up on a farm, you think of things like that.

Answer: No. The farmers are going to bend over again, count on it.

The millers and merchants have already said that they will selflessly step in, because the government's buying plan is a little behind schedule, and they will do the farmers and the nation a huge favour and buy the rice so the farmers won't have to wait for the government. Hey, it's hard work and a sacrifice but darn it, someone has to sacrifice for the sake of the farmers and the nation. Of course the price they can afford to pay for the rice isn't QUITE what the new government mortgage plan would pay them.....

And you know the rest.

Noticed the local 7-11s and Jiffy Marts had many boxes of Leo stacked up in their stores. Guess their trucks are getting thru. Heard rumors that Singha was not so lucky. Good thing I drink Leo. :beer

Went shopping for a big bottle of Coke yesterday. Family Mart and 7-11 had exactly zero Coke or Pepsi products - no cans, or bottles of any size (but they had lots of that nasty "Big Cola" crap :uh-uh: ). Drove around the corner to a little Mom & Pop store and they had plenty of Coke. Just have to know where to look. :nod

Strange that, Singha and Leo are the same company. As discussed elsewhere their largest brewing faacilities are in Khon Kaen. My problem was Soda water, (she mixes it with Regency), she talked to a couple who had a shop while we were at the Loy Kratong stuff in the village. Next day she proudly came back with a tray of Sodas, I was pleased until I heard what she paid for them. Edited by jacko
