Long time lurker here finally posting a question.

I used the search function for "pig" and many variations of roasted pig on a spit but haven't had any luck. I'm also a forum slut and have searched high and low for a restaurant that serves pig from a spit.

I even used Google and only found a couple of places that sell whole/half pigs - I'm a pig but not that big of one!

Any Help would be really appreciated.

Never heard of such a restaurant. You have to order one for yourself. Best way, put together a dozen people, pick any decent Chinese restaurant, give them 24 hours notice. They serve it in three courses - skin (with pancake wrap), meat, soup from the bones.

I've never seen spitted piglet done another way, commercially.

Just look for the Balloons

This is the best advice

you'll get. unfortunately the price of pork since the flood up north has risen significantly, so the number of bars with roast pig will be lower this year.

One of the reasons this forum is quickly dying is the number of moronic replies you get to a valid question.

On Sai 3 (3rd Road) Soi 17 (actually nearly opposite the much touted Tigglebitties but on the other side of the road) is a guy that sell/supplies the whole kit and kaboodle. Prices vary with the size of the porker but he can do the whole thing for you.

Call me if you need more help as the forum god here wont let me help people using the PM system

Cheers :gulp: ADMIRAL Ken

Joe: How long did it take you to become such a big FUCKWIT?

Funny, I was just going to ask you that. So I won't.

Tell me, instead, a non-rhetorical thing. What is the difference between your advice (give your anonymous guy, apparently in some sort of food shop, 24 hours notice) and my advice (give a restaurant 24 hours' notice)?

Anonymous HA

I don't know his name, same as I don't know the names of every stall operator at the market near my house or the lovely ladies that serve me in the nearby 711. You really are a complete dufuss!

Regardless of of your imagination or deluded sense of self worth IT DOESN'T MATTER. Redirection from the OP is called "threadfucking" and if it wasn't for the fact that you single handedly support the post count of this forum someone with real balls would have exported you long ago.

Having said that, for the sake of the OP I'll ask the guy his name today and post a phone number where he can be contacted. Unlike you I believe that forums should be a place for information exchange, not self-promotion.

Cheers :gulp: ADMIRAL Ken

.... and when was the last time you posted something HELPFUL for another BM instead of your usual bullshit? (self opinionated rants don't count)

If you ever come here to AC, you'll be spoilt for choice. They roast them at the side of the road. Lechon Baboy. Buy a whole roast pig or just a chunk of it, up to you.

It's one of the things I miss about going to the province with a girl. Throw a party and buy a pig. Great fun and masarap (delicious).

I don't remember seeing it on various trips to the province in Thailand but I'm sure the Thais must do it too. I only ever see spit roast pig at parties in Pattaya.

The OP asked where to find a restaurant that serves spit-roasted pork.

I told the OP to go to a Chinese restaurant and give them 24-hour notice and they would cook him up a pig. You told the guy to go to a food stall and give them 24-hour notice to cook him up a pig.

What is the difference?

Joe - I dont think roast pig is served like you said. I think you're thinking about Peking Duck.

Mikko - for the whole pig and the crispy skin , best to look for the ballons or if you can wait or afford one , go to a bar and ask them to get a pig the next nite just for yourself and the staff. I've seen a guy on a bicycle selling chunks of pork and will re-bbq whatever you buy. The skin can get a little tougher but its the closing thing I've seen to what you asked. Not expensive - 200B for a meal and a half!

I had the above only 3 times in Pattaya. Once was a new years day many moons ago when they had food sellers on Walking Street. I bought two packs and gave one to the Happy agogo door guys and took the other into the agogo to eat (and they dont allow outside food!).

The other two times was more recent , from the guy on the bicycle once on LK Metro (just outside Kiss/Submarine) and one just outside the BJ (cant remember the name) bars on Soi Post Office

I was in my hang out bar (never barfine from here) earlier tonight. I was getting low on cash so I told the Waitress that I was off to the ATM to get some cash and that I will be back soon.

On the way back to the bar I spotted a Street Vendor selling corn on the cob. I was a pit peckish so I thought I'd buy one. Talking to the guy he confirmed that they were 20 Peso each. I really don't like going into a bar eating food on my own. Sometimes there's new girls working that haven't eaten for ages because they haven't earnt any money yet. I asked the guy how many he had left. He did a quick count and told me eleven. Ok , how much I give you for all? 200 Peso was the reply. Ok let's go. I sat on the back of his bike/cart and we rode back to the bar. I paid him and sat down and he brought the corns into the bar for the girls.

Fuck me, you'd think I had bought them all a Porsche for Xmas! They were all screaming and coming over to me and touching corns together saying Tagay (cheers) and giving me a kiss on the cheek. Ten minutes later, everybody was sat about picking corn from between their teeth, LOL, One girl showed me how to make toothpicks from the Lollypop stick that is sttuck into the cob. I had a fantastic time and it reminded me how the best things in life are the simple things. Smiles all round for 200 Peso, LOL. (@ 150 Baht).

I never get a reaction like that if I buy a Ladydrink for 120 Peso!

It's the same in Pattaya, buy them all a bowl of cheap noodles and they lub you mak mak :beer

Here's a pic of one I bought earlier in case you've never seen a corn on the cob before, LOL (rubbed with butter and dusted with black pepper, yummy) ......

PS....... I don't remember seeing corn on the cob in Thailand? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks to all for the reply's. Since I am looking for a restaurant that serves pig from a spit (not looking for a full/half pig) it seems my best bet is to keep an eye out for balloons.

Yes, you won't get spit-done pig in a restaurant as a regular dish.

Joe - I dont think roast pig is served like you said. I think you're thinking about Peking Duck.

I haven't eaten it for a couple of months. But for the last 50, 60 years they've been doing it, and I doubt they've stopped. You're not wrong about duck, though - same rigamarole to get a (good) Peking duck in a restaurant. Also served in three dishes. And because of time/size you see it more than pigs.

PS....... I don't remember seeing corn on the cob in Thailand? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

You haven't noticed it. It's REALLY common. Thailand is a major corn exporter and it's all over the place in a zillion forms. On the cob, they barbecue it and steam it and boil it - that's the main ways.

Honestly, I don't remember seeing it anywhere.

Good to know it's there if I want it, thanks.
