As earlier mentioned - here I am again in Pattaya and here is some information on the internet cafes I have found:

There are quite a few 2 baht/min places, and even more 1 baht/min places.

40 baht/hr places: not far east on the right side of Central Pattaya Rd (ie. Pattaya Klang Rd) from the intersection with Pattaya 2nd Rd, and another further along on the same side of the road, then a third place still further east on Central Pattaya Rd just past the intersection with Pattaya 3rd Rd (lots of computer gamers here - noisy?).

30 baht/hr places: there are 2 places in busy little Soi Buakhao (sign on Central Pattaya Rd says Soi 13)(slightly further along east of the Little Duck Pattaya Resort), turn right as you are heading east along Central Pattaya Rd (the soi runs parallel between Pattaya 2nd and Pattaya 3rd Rds), the internet places are just past the 7-Eleven kink in the soi. The one that is 2 doors further away than the first, has new computers and a free bottomless glass of iced water - haven't been to the first one yet. Just found 2 other places at 30 baht further along the soi, further towards the Sawasdee hotel place with the swimming pool.

Any other additions for cheap internet places in town?

Thanks for the internet reports.  I was wondering what kind of upload speed you are seeing.  Say for instance if I wanted to upload a 150K picture file...how long would it take? ???

They say "Fast Loading. 112kbps." It doesn't crawl. The computers are new. Just as fast, if not faster than most other places in Pattaya I'd say - but not as fast as home though.

Why don't you post a 150K picture, and I'll time it for you.

Do they allow you to install the software into their pc's to enable you to load up pictures ? I have a digital camcorder which can also take stills but you have to install software to upload them to a pc . I'm heading there in June and a while in an a/c internet cafe making on the spot reports would be a good way of killing time in the middle of the day when it's too hot for doing much else .

[glow=yellow,2,300]This is probably a stupid question...[/glow]   ::)  Do the computers in the internet cafes have cdrom's.  I'd like to burn a bunch of my mail addresses etc on a cdrom to bring with me ... that I could then just put in the machine instead of surfing around to find the links I'm looking for.

Doug, don't know whether the pc's in internet cafes will have cd roms or not - doubtless some will. I was away last month (n South America not in Pattaya unfortunately) and before I left home, I set up an e-mail address with hotmail. I then added the e-mail addresses of the folks I was going to e-mail from South America and it was a lot quicker than trying to use AOL. I was also able to pick up e-mails sent to my hotmail address in no time at all.

Derek , there is a net place just to the left of the Flipper Lodge on Soi 8 (that is the Flipper nearest the bay) as you are entering the Flipper, just on the other side of Flipper’s driveway.  I think that it is called Soi 8 Internet and it is right next to the BB.  He will let you load your software onto his computers and down load.  He will even find your software if you forget it.  He will also burn your pics onto a CD if you want.  I think it was 250 bhat.
