One thing I really hated in Pattaya is the TV available. Satellite was expensive, with only a few channels available. Even with the add on of HBO, it only had old movies that I had seen years before, some when I was a teen. Sophon just plain sux, and while I had it, they dropped a couple of their better English channels.

If you have high speed internet, and a VPN there is a good alternative. Netflix. They have on demand movies, and TV shows over the internet for $7.99 a month. Right now they are giving 30 days free to try it out. I highly recommend trying it out for free. To sign up you will need a credit card or debit card. You will also need at least 1.5 MB internet speed. I haven't tried it from Thailand, but I am sure it isn't available in Thailand, which is why you will need a VPN. So, your 1.5 MB will have to be while using the VPN. Do a speed test while using your VPN, if you are getting at least 1.5 MB, you shouldn't have any problem. You might have to pick a server from the US, play with it and see.

I just hooked it up where I am, and saved about $90 over cable. The TV shows and movies are commercial free. That is the biggie for me, as it seems that every show is 50% commercials now. I ran a wire to my big screen TV and watch it from there. I can half size the picture, and surf the internet while watching something at the same time. Anyway, give it a shot, it's free for now. Let me know how it worked out for you. Here is a link. http://search.yahoo.com/search;_ylt=AgXVPkpqAXGcIDBP6PuCpnmbvZx4?p=netflix&toggle=1&cop=mss&ei=UTF-8&fr=yfp-t-701

Those of you working in Afghanistan and Iraq should be able to use it as well.

I caught up on all the old Star Trek series on Netflix.

but as I was going through Stargate Atlantis, I be damned if they didn't discontinue the series, DOH !

Those who are on Netflix will love this searchable database of their content :
