I'm toying with the idea of splitting my next trip to LOS into two parts - 8 days in Pattaya and 6 days in Chinag Mai.

Can anyone recommend any hotels in Chinag Mai?

or good Chiang Mai resources?

Cheers Chip

Or am I mad and should I just stay in Pattaya  [smiley=tits.gif]

I have spent some time in Chiang Mai and find it quite enjoyable.  However, I think that most sights and the city can be seen in 3 days.  I stayed at the Chiang Mai Plaza which is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in.  I did not have any problem bringing a lady and there was no joiner fee.  I didn't stop and ask if there was one anyway and they did not hassle my lady.  Price as I remember was about $45US per nite.  It is very close to the night market and getting around in Chiang Mai is quite easy.

Regards,

Bacon

Check out  www.bkktonight.com for info on Chiang Mai. I stayed there for two weeks and had a good time. I stayed at the Westin. Excellent hotel. No problem with guests. I booked as a double. Six days is plenty of time.

I went there for 2 days, you can read my trip report about it, for me any more than 2 days probally would of drove me nuts, there is very good sightseeing at the Wats on the top of the hill, and the emerald buddah.  Skip the Hmong village, its a plastic commercial tourist trap.  M_H

stayed at the montri, clean and nice, cheap too.

Have recently returned from Chiang Mai - stayed at the Imperial Mai Ping - approx 2,000 baht per night - great place - also if you are looking for a tour company - try Next Door Tours not far from the night Bazaar - ask for Ooy - she is a honey and very helpful.l
