Ali Baba - Indian

Recommended Posts

First of all I must to admit I'm not familiar with the indian food... better to say I know nothing about it. Thanx for my Freeplayo points I decided to give a try.

The venue really nice, however a little bit kitsch, remembered me a theme designed small, old GOGO bar on the soi Diamonds... but without the girls...

Without any knowledge I choose with blind eyes... the tikka masala sounded exotic... not the usual rice garnish, but indian bread with mint leafs...

I don't know if it was authentic or not - probably was - because I never tried anythink like this before, but it was really tasty.... exactly so spicy as it was enjoyable, a huge portion with generous amout of sauce... I felt the sauce was made from fresh vegetables, no powder, no creams... the chicken was chicken, not easy to mess it up. My only slight criticism: For me it was a little bit salty, but it means nothing, I like my average food without or with minimum salt ...

The bread was delicious, fresh and warm from the " tandoor "... true, the mint leafs were only decoration, I don't felt at all any mint taste....

Also was served four little saucers.... dip sauces for the bread, all of them pleasantly tasty... a yoghurt based ( for me the best ), a green one made from some fresh leafs and a kinda sweet chilly sauce..... and some chopped vegetables with herbs...excellent taste...I may be a boorish guest, but I ate it all, just like a salad....

Despite of the great experience, the 310 baht bill was sobering.... ( BTW it was a cheap choice from the menu )

If you had to pay 310b for the meal, what was the benefit of the Freeplayo points? Did you have a companion and get a free meal or what?

Also, I am always at a loss in an Indian restaurant, though I love the food if I can see what it looks like before ordering. As to the 4 sauce dishes, I don't know what to put them on...whether they are sauces, soups, or water to clean my hands. Yes, I'm pretty ignorant of Indian food.

looks good. Never tried the place but I've heard many complain about the price and frequent toilet trips afterwards among other things.

I used to live with a family of Indians and I really miss the food. Thier goat curry will curl a dead mans toes.

Changed 250 Freeplayo points to a 250 baht cupon... so the bill was 310 baht and I paid 80 baht cash + the cupon...

You can try....

Normally they are served (as dips) with poppadoms as an appetiser.
