I will be getting to Thailand on Jan 9th and staying until the Jan 19th.  I want to have a hotel room when I get to Pattaya that weekend (the 10th or 11th).  I know it is late and I am guessing that I am arriving just as are many may be finishing up their Christmas holiday's  in Pattaya.  I have stayed at the Flipper house on Soi 7 and liked it alot and I have spent most my time in Pattaya on soi 7.  I had a hard time getting past those first 10 or 15  bars!! ;D  As suggested by some on this forum I am going to try to get a room for a day or two around soi 7 or 8....or maybe try Tim's beer bar hotel.  And then try to check out my options for the rest of my stay (if I don't like my first nite's hotel).  Is it foolish to be changing hotel for my last 7 or 8 days?  Will it cost me more or will I save some bucks?   Thanks for thoughts.

Thanks for your input.  I have to get a reservations soon for at least the first couple of days.  Do you guys think the Flippers will have any openings after the Christmas rush is done?  Also which Flipper do you think is better?  Two times I have started at the Flipper on Soi 8 and both times I changed over to the Flipper on Soi 7.  It seemed that they always tried to put me in a dumpy room on Soi 8.  I guess I need to ask to look at their better rooms!!  I think I paid 1050 baht for a suite room at the flipper on Soi 7.  I could see the Big Tree beer bar (Bubpha) from my balcony on the 5th floor.  The room was very good and the service was good.  The maid always did a nice job.  The reception desk was friendly and the restaurant was ok.  They had a nice pool and in room massages.  [smiley=grins-jump.gif] Thanks Again.

My experience a couple of years ago in late January was that all the usually mentioned hotels, the Flippers, the Eastinys, Sabaiis, etc, etc, etc, had few to no rooms available on short notice.  The rooms available were at the second tier hotels and those rooms were the least desirable of that lot.
