Typical, I just booked with Etihad a few days ago, this always happens.

Mind you mine is a 3 month ticket and I will get a limo to and from Manchester Airport....I paid 98,300 baht.

You have to watch these tickets, if there is a chance you will need to reschedule the return leg, they don't make it cheap, as I found out to my expense twice last year.

I also think I had an email saying Qatar would be performing maintenance on their web-site in the next week.

The above sample is only for a short UK stay of 6 days, but I had a 'Z' Class with Qatar for a longer stay last year.

Mind you, the example is actually a four-month ticket. :thumbup

2,000 Baht to reschedule after departure. Didn't you check your ticket conditions before purchasing?

You could have had 4 months this year.

No, the death in the family was unexpected, and it would only have been 2000 baht if that same Class, (Z in your case), was open. The charge is per change and you have to give them a date, which in my case could not be met again.

I have always been able to fly per the booking in the past so changing costs never were a concern.

Anything else I should have done and didn't?

A flight on Qatar matching my itinerary is 106,655 baht. Changing the return leg would be free first time.

I get a lot of comments on the money I waste on Biz Class bratpack. I got a bit spoiled during my working days and I like to have a few drinks too. Sure, those extra G&Ts on the plane are dear at several short times each! I only do a couple of flights a year and I might as well enjoy them, rather than economy which, let's face it, is pretty miserable and mean spirited these days.

I was going to cut back to one a year, but things changed back in grubby Greater Manchester.

Still have a few bob left for those GGG short-times .... maybe have to cut that back to 20 though! :D

My cheap charlie flight.

I am flying with Qatar for the first time next month. I was curious before as to the price, if booking in LoS, the same journey but going the other way. I am now surprised that I seem to have got a better deal with Qatar than I thought.

I booked in Jan with Lastminute.com, Belfast to Man, then on to BKK with a 2 hour stopover in Doha. Rtn in Economy for £642 / 28,500Tbt.

Thats a good price especially as it is including the Belfast to Man flight.

Regards,

Wouldnt say you waste it mate, its your decision if you want extra comfort. The biggest problem if have,is i dont find it enjoyable to drink on a plane, gives me a bad headache so all the expensive booze would be wasted on me.Not a big eater too,but biz class would be less cramped. For 1 flight every 15 months my cheap charlie flight is suitable Jacko.

Well I do wake up a bit fuzzy, but mostly not too bad. One decided advantage is Etihad supply me a nice Mercedes to drive me onward in comfort from the airport. If I could guarantee an empty row to lie down on in economy that is far better. I think I got pissed off once when told I couldn't have another drink until I got one with the crappy meal in economy. And that was the end of my long-haul el-cheapos!

A glass of bubbly as the pretty stewardesses bustle around getting ready to close the doors appeals to me.

And I don't have to hang around in the transit lounge between flights... they aren't very good in either Abu Dhabi or Qatar.

I may as well tag this on here, it demonstrates the way the airlines make you feel 'I should have waited'

Received an email regarding a 8 day sale of tickets to a few destinations by Etihad Airways. I haven't investigated the availability myself... I have already booked at more than this.... :banghead

Economy and Biz Class.THB

Dublin 39,230, 105,300

Manchester 35,765, 86,015

London 38,045, 98,145

Sale Period: 11-19 April 2013
Travel Period: 11 April – 15 August 2013

Might be worth a check if you were thinking of a flight.

Just got a good deal on Etihad BKK-MAN for my missus in June ... less than 75k incl taxes for biz class with short stopovers. They even chuck in a limo at MAN and BKK. :thumbup
