Smokers at Manchester Airport :)

Recommended Posts

Have just been doing a check on the Manchester Airport website for info on the train station and saw details of the terminals showing smoking areas !! just in T1 & T2 at the moment but T3 expected to follow suit soon .

Apparently you go through Check-in , security etc then into the departure lounge and the Smoking Area is situated near the Food Court , it`s an outside area so no bother to non smokers .

Good to see some sense at last from an airport in the UK , loads of smokers were using the toilets so this will be better than breaking the law ! T1_Departures.gif

aside:

Love the Taipei airport. The internet rooms and smoking rooms are the the same size, off the main isle to the gate lounges. And that is enough for about 5 computer stations lined up - six maybe.

But you can tell the difference, the smoking lounges are sometimes so full of smoke it looks like a good thick London or San Francisco fog.

Unlike what you mention, you do not want to be near the smoking room door when it opens, if you are a non-smoker.

Flew business class via Narita once. Was looking forward to the upscale lounge. After about 30 minutes couldn't take the boredom anymore and went to the smoking room. I don't smoke but had a real blast chatting with the smokers there.

I don't think Taipei has smoking rooms any longer. I remember then at the end of concourse C and also one at the intersection of concourse C and the main terminal. But they appear to be no longer there. I first noticed this in March.

Interesting. It's been a couple of years since I was there.

Do they still disallow smoking in the terminal?

I’m with you on this one! As a non-smoker I can’t stand those business lounges, with the comfortable surroundings, and all that free food and drink. I’d much rather be in a shed with a smelly, carcinogenic fug around me, chatting to the smokers about emphysema and lung cancer.

Hang on a minute! It’s just possible that I may have got this the wrong way round.

As I’m sure you know, I have absolutely no problem with anyone smoking – just as long as they don’t do it near me. Smoking room – no problem, but I won’t be accepting any invitation to pay a visit.

Please pass this on to Messrs Benson, Hedges, Lambert, Butler, etc. etc… and their Camel.
