Koh Samui Hotel query

Guys, I will; all being well, be going to Samui in late January.

I have been in touch with 2 hotels at Lamai which seem to fit my requirements, the Utopia and Rocky Resort.

Utopia wants 50% non-refundable deposit and Rocky wants 30%, these both seem a bit high to me, what do you think?

If the hotels took say 1 days deposit up to 30 days before then 2 days up to 7 days before that seems to be more reasonable.

Hopefully nothing would go wrong but you never know as it is still 20 weeks away, if I try to book through an agency, they normally have to abide by the hotels terms don't they? Any tips welcome.

Look for another hotel? One day loss of deposit seems reasonable.

i stayed at lamia inn and they wanted 4 days in advance

pay by c/c.it was not direct to the hotel but to an

angency of some sort,on a secure line so  i paid and

it was fine no problems i got my room.it seems to

be more common on samui than elswhere.so its up to

you over christmas and new year its needed to secure a

room
