Expired motorbike license

Recommended Posts

Been stopped and my motorbike license expired the end of August, I never noticed because I have not been stopped in a while.

Just wondering if someone can confirm the paperwork I need to renew it, also will I have to retake all the tests because my license has been expired over one month?

Thanks in advance.

I think you will find you can renew up to 6 months after expiry.

Medical cert

Residency letter from imigration

And a basic form avaliable from the driving license centre

Think thats it

I didn't need the medical cert.

An obvious thing, but take the old licence....

From this website...

1. ORIGINAL FIVE-YEARS THAI DRIVING LICENCE

2. PASSPORT WITH NON-IMMIGRANT VISA (ORIGINAL AND PHOTO COPY)

3. ORIGINAL PRESENT RESIDENT ADDRESS IN THAILAND CERTIFY FROM EMBASSY / IMMIGRATION BUREAU (VALID FOR 1 YEAR) OR WORK PERMIT WITH ORIGINAL AND PHOTO COPY

I believed people and went without a med certificate to the DL center , was sent away to get one. For 100baht cost get one and save the hassle. Take a photocopy of the old license too.

Perhaps you renewed from 1 year to 5 year?

Sinkorswim has been around a while and I presumed it would be 5 year to 5 year.

It was however would expect there to be more of a need for the med cert if it has been five years since the last one.

By the way the advice I took was from thai visa. Even it it was right it was quicker to go get a med cert than arguing with a thai.

What you 'EXPECT' and what the reality is are often at odds here. :D

My info came from my experience and the dlt .gov site, as linked above.

I went a few month back to renew my license. I had the medical (200 Baht) but not immigration resident (300 Baht). They wanted both. Went back the next day no problems. They quickly looked at medical and gave it back to me. 5 years back I was a couple of months late and renewed without a problem. It is always better to have too much paper work than not enough.
