This time?

Once late it is late.

My mate just flew into UK from Oz (18th) via Doha and said he still used the old building and the new one might be ready for the World Cup there!

He said the transit didn't go too badly though.

I hope this is true as I'm flying through there on July 18th for a wonderful 2 month holiday in Thailand.

It was about fucking time! Doha is one of the worst airports in the Middle East.

No it isn't.

Kuwait is atrocious.

Cairo is mind numbing.

Muscat?

Well, I should've said 'one of' the worst. Mind you, I think Kuwait is OK, at least well organized, so is Muscat. Never been in Cairo.

Apparently you guys have not been through Jeddah (lucky for you). It has got to be the standard for worst airport in the world. The old Qatar airport is 100 times better than Jeddah, believe it or not.

I stopped flying through Qatar awhile back because of those busses and switched to Etihad. I'll look at going back to Qatar now.

Yes, well done, I had forgotten Jeddah..........

I was never too keen on Riyadh but it worked.... I hated the City more than the airport.

Most recent times I flew through Qatar I used the Premium lounge, and only ever transferred there, that place was very good. but the bus system was awful!

New Doha Hamad International Airport opened this morning. Here is the latest news :-

To this end, a spokesperson for HIA confirmed to Doha News today that during busy periods, “remote stands” – aircraft parking spots away from the terminal – will need to be used to accommodate all flights, meaning that some passengers will still need to take a bus to their aircraft.

I'm at Doha airport now. it is certainly a work in progress. had to take the bus arriving from my plane. , don't know about departing yet. get to the transfer security check and of the 16 or so pairs of slave scanners, only 6 were actually manned. so called free Internet is spotty, but passible.

it could be a good airport. at least the bars in the airport are open at 6am and that's where I am now.

to finish last post... didn't have to take a bus to depart. flight qr 832 was only 1/3 full. never have seen this flight so empty before.

Funny, I got an email from Qatar airline a few days before the flight offering a discount to upgrade to business class. glad I didn't take the offer. was seated by myself on emergency exit row and slept comfortably almost the entire flight.
