Residence Garden vs. Flipper

Recommended Posts

Some have said that the Residence Garden Hotel is pretty "far from the action" and a little difficult to return to at night.  As a specific point of reference, approximately how far is the RG Hotel from the FLB in terms of distance?  Is it too far to walk comfortably or safely?  By contrast, how far are the Flipper House and Lodge from the FLB?

Steve

Steve,

If you go to the top of this page and open Orientation, then Pattaya Map, the Residence Garden would be a little below the botton of the map where you see Phratamnak and 3 Rd intersect, I would guess less than 1/2 a mile to FLB.  The Flippers are on Soi 7 & 8 and guessing again about 2 miles to FLB.  However you have constant baht buses making the loop up 2nd Rd to North Pattaya Rd, then down Beach Rd to South Pattaya RD and over to 2nd Rd for 10 baht.  If you only want to visit FLB and Walking St, then the Residence Garden would be more convenient, but if you want to include the beer bars on Soi 7 & 8, Soi 6, and the big massage parlours then  the Flippers would be better at almost 1/2 the cost.

Thanks Emil for that thorough and prompt reply.  I plan to spend at least two weeks in Pattaya several months from now.  Maybe I'll spend some of it at the RG, some of it at one of the Flippers, and some of it who knows where.  :) I might as well get a good sampling of accommodations as well as "entertainment" venues.

Regards,

Steve

Changing of hotels is a useful method of avoiding problems with unwanted visitors if you change TG's and your old one is persistant .

If you are staying on or near the Sukhumvit Road you can take the air conditioned Bus from the Bus station further down the road at Ekamai. Taxi there will take a few minutes for around 50 baht. Comfortable buses leave at least every half an hour  until 10pm for 97baht.  Jump in a baht bus waiting at the station for a maximum of 60 baht for the both of you. Voila.

If you feel like a bit of adventure, you may meet a nice girl on the bus. :-)
