Yes, the Eastiny Place is very close to 2nd Road. The Eastiny Inn is further down the soi, closer to Beach Rd. right in the middle of all the beer bars. It's right next to a 24 hour AM-PM/7-Eleven type market. I looked at one room at the Eastiny Inn and one at Eastiny Place, and liked EP room better than EI. All tile, fairly new looking inside. Can't remember the room number I was in, but it was the top floor, end unit closest to Soi 8. It's far enough from the beer bars as to not be too noisy at night. It gives you a look at part of the Soi from your balcony, and also overlooks a rather nice pool that's on the 4th (?) floor.

The wing I stayed in was the one closest to Second Road...never was in the wing opposite from this one, but think the one I was in was the newer one. Can't remember for sure what the room price was (this was last Nov.-Dec.) but think it was 750 baht. They serve a fairly decent western-style breakfast at their downstairs restaurant (should you be getting up before noon!).

When the manager heard I'd be back for a month in May-June (low season), he said to contact him and he'd give me a better rate for the next stay, but ended up at the Residence Garden instead, which I really enjoyed.

At the EP they took the girl's I.D.'s at the front desk, but if that bothers you, maybe they would skip it if you asked them not to. If you have any more EP questions, ask away. If I don't know the answers, for sure someone else here will...Have a great trip!

Leadbelly pretty much nailed it.  The hotel was still under construction when I checked it out in Feb. 2001.  The rooms nearest Beach Road were finished and they were working on the pool and the wing nearest 2nd Road.  Because of the construction noise I didn't stay there until March of this year, but I don't think there's much difference in the two wings.

As did Leadbelly, I stayed on the top floor of the wing nearest 2nd Road.  Room was 709 - in the center of the building.  Not much of a view.  Looks out over some rooftops and buildings facing 2nd Road.  I'll take quiet over view anytime.

Also, see my review in the hotel section.
