Peppermint's new sign...I cant see why they bothered to change it..this one is blue and hardly catches the eye, IMHO.

The Russian gogo next to LD1 had a couple of Russian dancers outside. The blonde on the left had a huge crowd watching her. She was actually VERY good. I probably should have made a video instead of these two crummy snapshots.

Weren't some of the GGBs subject to complaint and told to remove 'low' signs that were obstructions out over the street recently?

Maybe Peppermint was the only one that decided to get on with it.

Not sure what the motivation for redoing the front signage. It seems to be too subdued in the grab for attention that many of the other bars are doing.

Incidentally, Insomnia was putting up a cloth sign last night that was very low...in fact, I doubt it was high enough to allow an electrical repair truck to pass. I hope they took it down at 3am, when traffic was allowed on the street.

Here's a photo that shows something I consider so sad...

It's the entryway to Covent Garden, the former home of formerly wonderful venues such as Club Boesche, Catz/Toyz, Relaxx, Xzone, Pepe's, and many other names that tried to make it in that location.

It's my opinion that the 4 bar complex was killed when Club Boesche melted down and closed. There was never a big enough draw to pull people in there after that.

A fond farewell to one of the best locations in town...

Looking at the closed down Catz/ Toyz /Boesche / X Zone area is the saddest thing to happen to Pattaya since Marylin's bit the bullet.

I sit here, weeping.

Seriously though, I feel lucky enough to have been there when Catz, CEB, Paris Pigalle (??) , Winchester a GoGo , Dollhouse , Nuis club etc were doing their damndest to outdo each other, and when Peppermint was considered a bit of shithole run by Dagmar and was upstairs opposite Marine.

My lasting memory of Catz is the tray of 10 B52's for 600 or so baht, which is how a good friend and all round legend "B52 Monster" got his Board name, after ordering 10 of them. Yep, that's a total of 100 B52's over the period of one evening. Even Robin was taken aback. He drunk most of the fuckers as well.

I have often felt Insomnia are a law unto themselves.

Hi MM. I saw these signs too. I think they may not be in the same category... ??

The recent city check on signs was for "immobile/fixed" signs, so on Walking Street mainly the big fixed electric signs. These ones could block a very high vehicle. (Firemen truck?)

Signs on your pics are not electric and are not fixed, they are just thin suspended boards. If ever a vehicle touch them, they will not block it, they will bow/rotate.

I don't say it's authorised, but I may understand what they are trying to do to continue to have low signs. The future will say what the police think about that ;)

Those closures mentioned are more than just sad news…They are about the only bars I visit….on my rare excursions.

I'd always take friends, (here for the first time), to sample the 'ice-dispensers' in 'Xzone'

Clarkson, Downton…..and now this!!

No they aren't fixed...in fact, I was watching the guy string them up, and as I said earlier, if necessary or they are called on it, they would be very easy to take down.

Still, they are probably illegal depending on which Thai policeman has the balls to go up against Insomnia's doings...and that's not likely.

  • 2 weeks later...

Skyfall Agogo was shut last night apparently due to staff beating a (probably obnoxious) foreigner. I heard that he hit the staff first, but the police say that doesn't matter anyway.

Police came back to Skyfall right after they opened and promptly closed them again about 10pm. They're piss testing all the staff and probably looking for any other irregularities they can find.uploadfromtaptalk1428338165559.jpg

Here is the link to the Pattaya One report. on this.

My lady told me it was reported on Thai TV and the security guy said 'he hit me'......

The weapon of choice, one of those sticks with a metal hook used to pull down shutters I am told.

I am inclined to say security frequently over-react and a lesson needs to be taught.

On the bright side, Skyfall has 2K barfines for "models" and 1500 baht for all others, and they charge 200 baht for model LD and a whopping 190 baht for a glass of jug wine, so I'm not shattered that they are going to likely be off the market now for a while.

Well a positive sounding response from the owner.

Pattaya Go-Go Bar owner decides to shut and re-train staff following assault on Tourist.

Pattaya One

I might have sacked them.
