I had the flight last year on Bangkok Airway. Bangkok Air best sevice and most beautiful stewardesss I have ever had on an airline. The airport is at u-tapao which is about 45 minutes away from Pattaya. Get a car from the hotel or go the cheap route if your with some mates and get a baht bus I think they charged us 500bht to the airport.

I just booked direct with Bangkokairways for late January. I will be flying Utapao(Pattaya)-Samui, then Samui-BKK and the total fare was 6,500thb.

There is only 1 Samui-Pattaya-Samui flight per day, around lunchtime.

On the BKK route, Bangkokairways use a Boeing 717 jet on some flights, I have never been on a 717 but I am booked for 6th Feb, plus the jet is quicker as well.

The Bangkok air web site shows seat availabilty, plus I found their fares quite good, e-ticketing so no extra charges for ticket collection etc.

Just to stay 1 post ahead of you Jimmac, I googgled the 717 and as you rightly said it was first called the MD95 which was a variant of the DC9.

I once sat in the pilots seat of a US Navy DC9 at NAS Jacksonville.

Hopefully the newer engines on the 717 are somewhat less noisy than the originals, don't want the tranquility of Samui spoilt.

Not too sure if when the pilot runs the engines up at samui if he has to make sure he doesn't add too much power and blow the terminal buildings away.

Rgds

There will be a Bangkok Airways bus at U Tapao airport to shuttle you to your hotel for 150 baht.

Anyone planning to take multiple(two or more) trips with Bkk Air should consider their Discovery Airpass.

I've just done Bkk - Samui - Bkk - Samui for 6000 baht...
