Do you seriously believe that the UN has barred the transport of all of these items? Caffeine? E-cigarettes?

From http://thainews.prd.go.th/website_en/news/news_detail/WNSOC5902190010019

BANGKOK, 19 February 2016 (NNT)- The Ministry of Commerce has announced a list of 8 goods that have been barred from transfer through the Thai border by the United Nations.

The 8 goods that have been banned from being transferred in and out of Thailand include products that infringe upon intellectual property, reproductions of licensed goods, hookahs and E-Cigarettes, gaming devices, elephant products, ancient artifacts, Buddhist paraphernalia and caffeine. Those caught attempting to leave or enter the country with such items will be fined and imprisoned as well as have the goods confiscated along with any implements for transport.

The ministry has also reminded that sensitive agricultural goods that can impact Thai farmers, such as tapioca, rice, wood and products that require World Trade Organization treaties to transport such as palm oil, animal feed corn, onions, garlic and milk have yet to be authorized for transfer from Thailand. Those who wish to travel with such products must receive the proper documentation, which include verification of the goods' origins and their hygiene.

I didn't know that the UN could ban/bar any items being imported/exported, let alone "stupid items" mentioned above!

Aramex ban electronic cigarettes too!

I am wondering whether a certain 'Monopoly' had these added.

What in the world is Buddhist paraphernalia? Little wooden Buddhas?

Actually that one has been in force for as long as I can remember; It's to stop genuine artefacts (including those that have not yet been identified as such) being removed from the Kingdom. Co-incidentally British museums and institutions are packed with many such artefacts from ages gone by, quite a lot of which are "wanted back" by various countries!

Return of that diamond will be another milestone in PC rot but it will happen sooner or later.

A cave in on the "Elgin Marbles" back to Greece would probably mark the start of any mass clamour IMHO. (For years as a kid and young man I was under the impression that they were an ancient set of toy glass balls knicked from the Scottish borders ! )
