Anvar: New lebanese restaurant on Jomtien.

Walking back home from Jomtien Sauna last week I noticed this restaurant on the way...

Their menu very similar to the Cedar in the Central festival, but more extented... For example three different kind of the „ Hummus + meat „ option... One with beef ( The photo looks like the same in the Cedar menu, but they told me it is lamb... and I don’t felt the lamb taste, maybe because it was too dry ... ) one with beef shwarma and one with chicken shwarma... My original plan was to try the hummus + chicken shwarma ( 220 baht ) ... chicken is cheap, maybe the final result will be a main meal... or a hummus + labaneh combo with pita... ( also 220 baht with 2 pita )


But oopss.... something much more exciting....a set menu... I simple like the set menus... or the flagship meals... The set menus, because I can’t be wrong ( yes I was in the real India ) the chef assort the meals fit together... and usually sold for bargain prices... My bad.. If I don’t see any set daily menu on the offers advertised on the street board I don’t even bother to see the menu... too lazy or what ? When a restaurant offers cheap beer / alcoholic drinks instead of the set menu I just run away...and fast... The flagship meals may be the most expensive items, but they are the meals the chefs like to brag about... so it will be made with attention...


So.. in this case the set menu was: Hummus, two lebanese bread ( pita ) salad, kebap and a soft drink... 300 baht. Let’s try it....

I asked the waitress, what kind of meat the kebap ? No clue... just an empty stare on me... The good news, she asked the arab guy to talk with me... His honest reply was: It is a mix, chicken, beef and lamb....


The hummus with the hot pitas arrived very soon with the cola ( the glass was full with ice ) The pitas were very good ( but not excellent like in the Cedar ), the hummus was very good ( but not excellent like in the Cedar )

The salad plate: fresh tomatoe slices, pickled cucumber ( a little bit too salty for me, but this means nothing , I hate the salt and eating everything saltless... ) ... and a very nice add: a few piece of pickled chillies... the long ones...



And the kebabs landed on the table... generous portion, a small piece pita on the top with some sauce and a heap of sliced onions with some green ingredients...added a lot for the experience... The kebaps were perfect... in some bites I felt the taste of the lamb, in some other bites not... so the arab guy was honest... All in all a very good experience... ( the french fries were fresh, crispy and perfect ) My only complain was, no any special sauce for the kebap... It was a dry meat ( as it must be ) and the only one offered sauce for it was the bottled Heinz ketchup... I’m familiar with the same type kebaps ( because of my Uzbek mates in the university... there should be some special kebap sauce )

The extra soda water ( because of the dry kebap without any sauce ) : 20 baht


Verdict: Very good value and very good food, but not excellent... I will be happy to return with my own georgian ( not the US Georgia ) kebap sauce sitting in my fridge... ( A georgian mate gave me )


PS: Priceless experience to sit in a beach side restaurant, feeling the sea breeze.... Ok... the Beach road is between us, but sill good.... The staff really made their best efforts to serve me....
