I have just cancelled my Eva air Evergreen delux booking LHR - BKK and for £50 less booked a BA - Qantas return to Sydney. Only staying in Sydney for 10 days after first staying in Pattaya for 90 days. I then use the Sydney section as leaving the country and returning to Pattaya to renew my visa for another 90 days.

My question is Just what is the service level on BA - Qantas.

Regards

Griffo

With the major airlines the level of service back in the cheap seats is the same. The major difference is the seat pitch.

BA and Qantas.

Both have seat pitch of 31" in economy, Qantas have newer cabins.

Both have seat-back entertainment, Qantas have just upgraded all the 747-400 aircraft, and now include games.

BA meals are OK, and they leave snacks in the galley, so help yourself to biscuits and chocolate all through the night.

Qantas now give you a little doggie bag with water, a cookie and Polo mints for the middle of the flight.

Overall, I have not had any problems, but after the cabin refurbishment, Qantas are just ahead.

This was my latest experience in June 2003.

For others, BA are having a sale at the moment, only lasts 4 days, so some bargains to be had, book by 5th August.

Have only flown them in Business Class but the cheap seats didn't look to good. The food was OK and the service was not bad. For me the flight is just the flight get on, sit wait, get off. I wish they would change the movies more same flims showing for several months.

Sleepwalker :- check your private messages !

Fishingtime :- BA films are changed monthly in Economy, and there are extra channels in other classes.

You're right they change the videos on the west bound and east bound flights each month. But the lead video that starts in August east bound is the lead video west bound in September.  And the next month it becomes a sub video, so the same videos take three to four months to clear the system.  When you fly every month you see the same video over and over. Also they share it seems with partner airlines so they get old very fast.

BA economy is crap and apart from the poor service the legroom is the worst of any regular flight.  I would fly on BA as the last resort and much prefer Thai or EVA deluxe.

Just a point worth thinking about.

To make more money BA put in an extra row of seats where the over wing escape hatches are.

31" seat spread in economy ?????? You are joking right ?

Its 28 mate.

I wouldnt travel BA at a 50% Discount.

In the 80's Qantas decided to dip their feet in the cheap seat Market and were offering LHR-BKK at £425

BA complained to IATAA and anyone else they could and got the fare blocked.

Thats the sort of people BA are.

What are the best seats in BA going to 1) America and 2) BKK  ??  Unfortunately I have to do both journeys this month.....in economy, however I can book the seats 12 hours in advance apparently  ??? ??? !!

HMMM It really depends upon which Aircraft is being used, time of day of flight and personal preferences.

I personally prefer sitting behind the wings. Noisier but you gte a longer look down at anything that takes your fancy.

I also try to get a window seat next to an Exit or next to a Door as it has longer headroom
