September Deals ?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone seen any good offers yet UK to Bangkok for September ? I've searched the usual sites but the only cheap deals seem to be from mainland airports . As soon as you do a search for Belfast - Bkk they always come up with mad prices . Do you think the prices will come down next month or would I be better booking now - opinions please ?

Cheers ,

Derek,

In previous years there has been a load of offers roundabout late July/early August for travel Sep through to the Xmas high season.

You could look at doing separate tickets using bmi baby or BE from BFS to either Birmingham or Manchester.  The trouble is that you start accumulating more taxes the more stopovers you have and it negates the apparent savings of avoiding the extra costs of connecting to a direct flight through LHR.

The best I can see at the moment is getting to MAN on bmi baby (£29-£44 incl tax depending on day of travel) to connect with the Emirates flights (out at 2035, back in at 1220).  Downside is that you could have 3 hours in MAN (you could set up stall and flog a few Man U copy footie shirts!) but the Emirates check-in is 3 hours so it evens out a bit.  Emirates is currently showing at £530 incl tax with e-bookers on the flights providing decent connections in both MAN and DXB.

I will check to see if it is possible to get a through ticket with the bmi baby/Emirates combination and let you know.  It would save the hassle of having to re-check your bags and might reduce the taxes a bit.

Or you could go via Honolulu. ;D

Hope this is of some help.

Tom

I`m working in greece at the minute but about a couple of months ago working on November 4th departure it was 464 pounds from newcastle to bkk via amsterdam with klm doing the hopper flights and china air doing the main one.. this is economy but includes taxes. I`m REALLY REALLY pissed off with china air for changing their deal. Last year it was 804 pounds inc taxes with the china air flight in business..now they have this upper class deal which is basically a big seat and sweet f/a else.

Hi Turbo, my name is Simon and i travel from England to Pattaya 6 times a year. I always get the cheapest flights 4 weeks before i go from lastminute.com.Check the website out then ring them giving them your telephone number and ask them to watch for cancellations they always ring you back with great deals. I have never paid more than £380.00 inc taxes etc for return flight.I have always flown from Heathrow so you need to get there first.

Good Luck.

Turbo,

As far as I can work out you can't book a through ticket via either Manchester or Birmingham.  You can book through via LHR on BA and the fare is circa £665 incl tax.

You could book Emirates MAN - BKK rtn at £548 incl tax and do your own connections with bmi baby BFS-Man at £29-£44 incl tax.  Really a choice between cost v convenience.  You would have to collect your bags at MAN and check in again but at LHR you need to hire a sherpa to get between terminals.

All the above prices were from Airline Network based on travel dates of 5-21 Sep.

Simon,

Lastminute.com does not have some preferred access to "cancellations".  All its flights are handled by Travel Select which is now fully owned by Lastminute.com.  All Lastminute does is shunt you through cyberspace to Travel Select.

Gus,

It is ebookers.com that has the booking office in Delhi.  ebookers also owns Travelbag and Bridge The World.

Tom

Thanks guys . Tom - great info as always . I'll do some phoning & let you know how I get on . I have heard that the return leg with Eva now gets back into LHR early enough now to catch the last plane to Belfast , saving an overnight stop in a shitty airport hotel . I might go with them if the price is right .

Guest Fatboyfat

Any idea of the Buisness or 1st Class prices from Manchester with Qatar ?

Also, not that it worries me too much, are they "dry"?

No!! Qatar airlines are not dry, full bar service :o.Sorry do not know business and first class fares. But I would think they would be competative. As this is a newish airline that started in 1997 with two planes. Now has about 35 I think, with a large number recently ordered from airbus in France.New routes are been added each month.Doha airport terminal  is small but modern and is been extended in the very near future.OK for a short stop.Resonable stop overs are available.Cabin staff a mixture of Qataries (sp) and uk nationals.Extremley tight security at Doha airport.Probably the best I have seen.

Just got the following prices for Manchester > Bkk

Out 5/9/03   Return  26/9/03

Turkish via Istambul   £475

SAS via Copenhagen  £494

Emirates via Dubai      £498

I'm going for Emirates - Good service, reasonable food and seat (for economy) and Dubai is a good airport for the change of aircraft.
