Finnair vs Thai Airways

Recommended Posts

Hi guys!

I'm going to Thailand again in May and I have two pretty good offers from Thai and Finnair.

I've never been flying with any of these two airlines before.

Do you have any good or bad experiences with these airlines?

Sindre.

I flew Thaiair on a non-stop flight from Stockholm to Bangkok last fall. Smooth ride, very nice airplane, good service and cute stewardesses  :-*

I will fly with them again.

Never tried Finnair yet.

I once flew on Thai air from Los Angeles to Bangkok and back.  Even in economy class, the service was great.  It pretty much seemed like non-stop food and wine.

I've flown both airlines, Thai in January and Finnair few years ago. Service was ok on both airlines. Thai spiced their food in a way I didn't care for. My daughter didn't like it either. Back in the cheap seats service seems to be the same on all airlines, ok. S'pore Air may be bit better but then again that maybe because the girls are so pretty.

I lucked out next trip, I fly business both ways; Philly to BKK. ;D ;D ;D

I have flown twice with Finnair and my third time is next May. I can't say nothing special about service, it's just ok for me. Flight time from Helsinki about 10 hours and they use MD11 on this route. Good point is arrival time to BKK, about 1330/1430.

I would double check the seating layout on Finnair.  I have flown them on another holiday route and found that on a DC10 or MD11 they jammed in 10 across, charter flight style, seating with no leg room.  Those planes are designed for 9 across seating in economy.  I would never get on one of those again.  If the seat layout is OK, Finnair service is OK.

I flew Finnair AMS-HEL-BKK v.v. in 2000 and Thai FRA-BKK-CNX v.v. in 2001, both in business class.

Finnair has good service and uses MD11, Helsinki is a nice airport.

About Thai, it depends on crew (very friendly or not friendly at all) and aircraft type (B747 300, 400-1 or 400-2).
