Qatar Airlines from Manchester

It has been possible for some time to fly with Qatar from Manchester to Bangkok (albeit on a LH codeshare via Munich) on the Manchester-Doha leg.  The downside was that the availability of their fares and the connection times in Doha made them the poor relations compared with Emirates.

 

The good news is that from April 1st they are introducing direct flights 4 times a week from MAN with two of the flights  leaving in the morning (We/Su ) and two leaving in the evening (Mo/Th).  The stopover in Doha is a little over an hour (as opposed to Emirates 3 hours in Dubai), bringing the total travelling time MAN-BKK down to as little as 14'35" on the outward leg and 15'45" on the return leg.  All their aircraft are Airbus 300 series with Personal TV in economy.

 

The cost of the flights (through Travelmood) is from £417 incl tax (this price was available on the dates I checked in May and is about £50 cheaper than Emirates) and I would expect most agents to be around this price.  The only downside I can see is that although availability from/to Manchester should be OK, Doha-Bangkok can be limited.
