Necessary to Reconfirm w/airline

This is my first trip to LOS and I was wondering if it is necessary to reconfirm the outbound flight with the airline prior to leaving?  I have been to the PI before and it is necessary to reconfirm your flight a few days prior to leaving from there.  I have always had the hotels in the PI do this for me and paid a minimal charge.  Is it the same in the LOS?  BTW I will be traveling Northwest.

Northwest does not require you to reconfirm your reservation.

It is not necessary to reconfirm on Northwest. I have flown NWA several times to BKK and never had to reconfirm. However, they do have a Bangkok reservation phone number that you can use to reconfirm if it will make you sleep easier.
