Ciggies~ where's cheapest??

Just been made redundant so I'm planning a quick trip in the next couple of weeks to help me  console myself lol.

Her indoors wants me to bring her some ciggies back, does anyone know the going rate in the supermarkets at the moment? Or is Duty free a better bet?

Duty free is a better bet as long as you buy in BKK and not the UK airport.

 

There is not much in it however and the airport duty free does not always stock the cheap local brands. In Thailand I smoke L&M Red which are 38-40 Bt/packet at a 7-11, 345 Bt for a carton in Tesco Lotus or 300 at Don Muang, however although I got some on my return in April this was the first time I saw L&M in the airport.

 

I don't smoke them but am told that Benson & Hedges, Marlboro etc are not the same as those in the UK, Marlboro & Marlboro Lites are about 450 Bt/carton in Tescos.

 

For really cheap cigarettes get some in Cambodia, Jet aren't bad at about 100 Bt/carton.

you can get bensons, and silk cut on the way back.

plus all the usual american brands.

they are about 4-5 hundred per 200 pack, and sometimes have offers, ie buy 2 cartons and get a third for 50%.

My sister will only smoke Benson & Hedges and she tells me that the ones I buy for her in Bangkok airport are the real deal & identical to UK ones .

Hi Jack,

It all depends which way your flying. If your going by Emirates I've found in Dub. they are the cheapest for booze  and Fags about half the price of BKK. Cameras etc. i've found cheaper in U.K. than in Dub. I priced a Fuji 601Z in Dub. £450 tax free, in U.K. i got one from Jessop's for £420.

i got dunhill at don muang worked out about £4 a box buying 800 but dont forget your only allowed to bring 200 back to uk i bought 2000 back

i brought back 3000 everytime until i got caught...blagged it and they let me kep them but i am now on heathrows computer and i get stopped evertime now 5 in a row (a bit of a hassle when you been flying 12 hours)

 

but it made me give up as im not paying uk prices...fuck our goverment
