don't know if it's the best deal or not, but at a 100bt a day or 600bt a week you can rent a 125cc motorbike anywhere alone beach road or walking street all though they will require some form of security. always can lt a tg who has their own and save the hasel.

I rented a nearly new Honda Wave S from Maipang at the Jomtien complex for 3000 Bt/month. They have 3 rental and 2 repair shops. The rental shops are at the Jomtien Complex, Behind Big C in North Pattaya & Sunny Plaza Soi 17 South Pattaya. If you look on the notice boards at Friendship Supermarket you will find his business cards.

stevoh.

PS they don't rent big bikes not even the Kawasaki Boss. 2 strokes are cheaper but you are always looking for petrol, of the bikes they rent the biggest tank is on a Yamaha Nouvo Automatic at 5.5 litres. The Wave only held 3 and was a pain you had to run it almost dry before you could get 50 Bts worth in.

Just beware of motorcycle thieves.

You lose it, you pay for it.

A few years ago I hired a bike down on Koh Samui. The Thai girlfriend insisted on bringing it inside the bungalow with us every night. The story goes that there are some unscrupulous dealers who will rent you a bike but insist on holding your passport as security. You put your address on the papers when you rent the bike and so its easy for them to go round at night and steal their own bike. In the morning the renter reports the bike missing and is forced to pay 100,000 replacement cost for the bike.

I think you would have to be just plain unlucky for this to happen, but its something to be aware of.

djidji,

I presume you are an experienced motorcyclist.

I have just got back from my second visit to Pattaya. During my first visit in february, I personally saw two motorcyclists killed during my taxi ride from Bangkok Airport.

Last week I turned on the television in the RG and came across the Pattaya news channel. They reported on the three motorcyclists, one English and two Thai, who were killed the day before in the Pattaya area!

I mentioned the above whilst in the FLB and was told that was not exceptional. I was also told that some of the rental agencies insurance cover is by no means comprehensive. You could end up paying for a new bike even if you only bend it a little.

I would suggest you think very carefully before you hire 2 wheels in Pattaya. The roads in LOS are very scary places! :P

Look after yourself

This subject comes up every few months. The best advice is: DON'T RIDE A BIKE IN PATTAYA!

I have ridden all over the US, but had an accident in Pattaya. Had to go to a hospital for stitches on the head and an elbow. The drivers are nuts! No matter how good you think you are, there are idiots out there. In my case it was a Thai gal driving a BMW and not paying attention to what was going on around her.
