If not I'm getting the bus! B)

Thanks,

I'm also travelling BKK-PTTYA on the 7th, but will be using the free transfer between Dynasty Inns.

Bus leaves around 11am I think, and no way am I getting up at 6 to get a cab...

Besides, I will be wrapped up in the arms of some sweetie about that time ! :P

Where are you staying in PTTYA ? We could meet up for a drink. Maybe at FLB

Hi BJ,

Thanks for the reply. I'm resigned now to getting the bus. Not so bad an idea -Stick my walkman on and arrive in Pattaya at about 10ish. Sharing a cab would also be OK but will maybe get me in too early and as it doesn't suit anyone else the bus it shall be! ;)

I've booked into the Sandy Springs and I'll PM you on arrival and hopefully we can meet up for a beer. The FLB is as good a place as any ... If not somewhere around Soi 13.

Cheers and have a good journey down etc,

If you can afford to stay at the Sandy Spring surely you can afford a cab on your own ;)

After a 12 hour flight why do you want to fuck about getting a bus ?

Hi Roland,

I might arrive and just jump a cab ... but then again the bus might be an adventure / different experience.

I fancy the bus trip ... I'll let you know how much hassle it is etc if I do it.

Some of the taxi no shows / hassles / lunatic drivers are also possible and yeah at 6 in the morning all you want is to be met by a Roller and taken straight to the Oriental.

Cheers,

C

I'd like to see you after a 12 hour flight fuck about with your luggage trying to get to Morchit or Ekamai bus depot then a 2/3 hour ride with your knees up against your chin and then negotiate the baht bus mafia at the Pattaya bus depot.

Me I'll just jump in a nice aircon taxi and have a nap for 90 mins or so before I hit my hotel.

Why don't you see if you can get someone to share your taxi to the bus depot and then you'll save 50baht :D :D

I gotta agree with ROLAND on this. You can do it but what a hassle. I've taken the bus many times and I wouldn't do it.

If your going to do it, I would catch a cab to Mo Chit Sky-Train Station and take the train to Ekkamai as you will cut out all the cross town rush hour traffic. Bus station is located at Ekkamai.

Taking the Bus is fine if you start out from BKK. Ekami is just a few Skytrain stops up Sukumvit from the Nana area, and if you're refreshed the bus trip is no hassel. Only takes 2 hours.

But, comming off a long flight early morning, that is another story B)

Cottesloe, I am staying in the soi 13 region as well (Dyn Inn) so no prob on meeting up ch)

Staying 2 nights in BKK first, so just 2 days to go for me :D

Hi BJ,

Enjoy Bangkok! I'll PM you on the 7th and arrange a meet up - looking forward to it.

Now I've no choice but to get the bus! :D

If I feel crap I'll do the easy thing and get the taxi - from departures etc. If I'm up for a different experience and feel OK then I fancy the bus. I'm more or less killing time anyway. I'm also travelling light so not much crap to lug about ...

It will give me a chance to practice my Thai language skills as well as giving me the chance to say - "I'll never bloody well do that again".

No plans are the best plans. You never know I might end up seeing you on the Dynasty bus!

BIGD, If I get the bus then I'll become your hero! Well, maybe not ... that would only happen if I hitched it :eyecrazy

Thanks for the advice guys!!!

Hey, If anyone reads this late and arrives about the same time then the taxi share is still on ... a few cold ones on the way (or maybe a few starbucks!).

Cheers,

C

I get in at 15.30on the 7th but go straight to soi4 . Beats the hell out of taking a taxi straight to Pty . Couple of days in Bangers never goes amiss.

Yipee !

I am sitting in that Internet Cafe across Soi 4 from Dyn Inn BKK, waiting for my room to become available. It is 630 am

I have arrived !! :nod

Best feeling, knowing you have just begun your trip...

It's very strange, as I left on Friday night from home, and was in Soi Nana by 5am Sat. There was still some nightlife going on at that time, so it felt like I had arrived on friday night :nod

So, if anyone yesterday had asked back home what I would be doing last night after work, I could, in a strange twist of the truth, say I would be in BKK

Pity my room was not avail tho...

Cottesloe, I will chk for your pm when i get to pttya on 7th. Where were you staying again ?
