Could any members help me with a consolidator or other tips to get a cheap RT airfare from Edinburgh to New York City?

Thanks,

Hub, as far as I'm aware the only airline that fly to Edinburgh from New York is Continental Airlines. I did a quick search on Expedia - www.expedia.co.uk - and depending on dates the lowest cost seemed to be around £392 but this was flying via Amsterdam! I dare say that cheaper options will be available - particularly via London.

It may also be cheaper to fly from Glasgow rather than Edinburgh.

I would look at taking EasyJet to London (as low as 14 quid return + taxes for Sept.), and then hopping across the pond.. there are SO many deals on that route (LON-NYC), especially in the autumn, that it would have to be worthwhile to investigate IMO. Not to mention the fact that Continental flies into Newark, NJ which in and of itself can be a royal pain in the arse.

Happy flying!

Whatever you do, if you have to make a conx in the USA to LGA, make sure to have at least 2 and 1/2 hours between flights...Your luggage must clear the TSA Inspection and any shorter conx time may lose you and your luggage for a time.

Just a follow up - Continental's inaugural flight from Edinburgh was today (to Newark) rather than New York. The flight was 15 minutes late departing due to "equipment problems".

I'm not sure what planes they're using - probably a 777(?) as I don't think that the runway at Edinburgh is long enough for 747's.

easyJet have good deals to Luton and Stansted though the downside is that you will probably still have to get over to Heathrow or Gatwick for the flight to New York. It could work out cheaper (certainly more convenient) flying down to Heathrow or Gatwick with BA as many of their internal flights to London are only £15 one way (plus taxes).

Just to clarify, that price that I quoted for Easyjet in the earlier post was Edinburgh-Gatwick.. it would be a real bugger to get to Heathrow, but there are a few airlines that utilize Gatwick for the NYC flights.

35 Baht happy hour at Peppermints... hmmm.. I wonder what exactly you can get for 35 baht? 2guns

Also, I forgot to mention, make sure the boss realizes that he will have to pick up his checked bags at Gatwick, and recheck them at the ticket counter for whichever airline he decides on. EasyJet doesn't do any kind of checkthrough service, and they have no airline alliances (Much akin to Southwest Airlines here in the States) Just FYI
