I thought I'd give this place a try as they seem to restaging World War 1 on Soi 13 where I was planning to stay. Need a bit of info though from anyone who's stayed there recently.

Is there any construction noise from the new wing or has it past that stage?

The "new" rooms are supposed to be the best. Which ones are they?

Which rooms have twin beds pushed together to make a double, so I can avoid them?

All info gratefully received.

be seeing you

I believe the new wing is complete, however when I was last by there about two weeks ago, another hotel was under construction next to it on Soi 1. The structure on this hotel looked finished and they were working of the interior of the hotel.

Chimp,

I highly recommend the Sabai Lodge. I've stayed there several times and it's my favorite if for no other reason then location. I love the Soi 2-3 bars, being close to the Big C and the massage parlors, and you can catch a baht bus headed down beach road right outside the front door :D

Monkeyman,

Say, I plan on staying at the Sabai Lodge for September...enjoyed that area my first visit...will walk in as it will be low season and see what price I can work-out, but will use the prices Shilo listed as a basis.

If you remember, let us know how the room worked for you, price paid, and any room recomendations...also, I understand that they don't have safes in the rooms, but have a safe in the front desk area for passports, personal belongings ect...wonder how "safe" that is... :D

Thanks,

Bill

When I stayed at the Sabai Lodge I felt very comfortable using the safes at reception to store my unused travelers checks, extra cash, passport, etc. Nothing went missing. Keep in mind, these safes aren't really big enough to store an expensive camera or laptop.

monkeyman,

As of last week, the extension (Ruen Thai Wing + pool) adjacent to Soi 2 is complete. There is an additional 100+ room extension being added at the Soi 1 side of the hotel - the main structure (6 floors) was just about finished but it is planned to be circa the end of Oct/start of Nov before all the work is finished.

I understand the Sabai Group is planning to take over the management of The Weekender in the near future (it is currently leased out on a mangement contract) and will totally refurbish the whole complex up to the same standards as the Sabai Inn/Lodge so that may become a decent option in the North Pattaya area.

If staying at the Sabai Lodge or Inn, the nearby Welkom Inn has great food, a great beergarden and some hot shortime girls. Also a nice place for breakfast is 100 baht all you can eat with all the coffee you can drink overlooking the beach on Soi 2 and Beach road.

I love the Sabai Lodge, but I went to their new website the other day and saw the room rates have went up. I was there end of Feb, 2004 - Mar.11, 2004 (high season) and paid 1150 baht a day for Deluxe Room A, and now the prices are 1650 baht. I do like the hotel, but I don't know if I like it that much. I am going to look for other accomadations for my next trip.

Yea, thats the URL I have and it does load superslow, nothing wrong with my connection so I figured it was an old website on a forgotten server.

Oh well.

I am puzzled about the 'no safe in room' comment.

I stayed at the Sabai last Nov/Dec in a deluxe room (about 1000 b I think) and there was a nice large safe in the room. It was actually large enough for a small laptop (12-13 inch screen).

I enjoyed the stay and will use it again if a planned visit in November comes through.
