When posting a reply to a topic, I got the following error message -

"Sorry, an error occurred. If you are unsure on how to use a feature, or don't know why you got this error message, try looking through the help files for more information.

The error returned was:

Flood control is enabled on this board, please wait 30 seconds before replying or posting a new topic "

Anyone know what this means?

My reply was posted OK. It may be that 2 members had tried to post a reply simultaneously as a reply had been added between me reading the previous post and replying to it. :3some

Happens to me pretty often: I guess that the Board software has a built in control that allows just so many requests per time-unit. :D

I'd further guess that this works for all users surfing the Board at a certain moment and, perhaps, also for each individual one - I tend to open a few topics in quick succession sometimes, resulting in 1 or more Board Messages when I get unlucky... :3some

This is probably the means to prevent the Denial-of-Service type of attack/misuse. :beer

yeah, it is tp prevent missuse - for example, try to post a reply and then immediatly edit it, you get the same error. i guess these settings can be edited by the admin to his needs, right pete?
