I used to use the Aungkham northern Thai food restaurant on the north end of third. It closed and will open called 1001 I think. But heaven knows when as they seem to be taking their time. Ended up in Jed jook on North Rd near Tesco. I had a visitor and thought the great food quality at Vientienne would be good, and they have a big car park!

Tried to go there last night and the place was closed. Haven't been for a while but was a favourite. Anybody know why.. closed for low season, closed Sunday evenings (surely not.. popular with Bangkok residents), or some modernisation? Police were using it to wave errant motorcyclists into, so a bit of a pain to get in, then out, still hungry.

Yeah I was looking at one in Carrefour a while back. It looked great and as I have hired one in the UK frequently I know they are a good all round car. It was rather expensive though... so I kept the Ford truck! It rides high and the dogs are simply killed under the wheels without any cost to the car... other than the obligatory visit to the monks to ask forgiveness and have it re-blessed.
