  1. You are an American, good fish and chips is something you don't get. I mean you guys eat catfish and rave about it.....catfish are ugly bottom vacuumers.
  2. Yes I am having the problem again with Adblock disabled, might as well re-enable it for this site.My Pattaya Daily News seems to work OK and I have @@|http://www.pattayadailynews.com/openx/www/delivery/* as an exception. If you solve the posting problem, I would appreciate a post/PM as I have once or twice typed something out and then lost it. (Just happened here again........)
  3. I think calling the official taxis extortion is a bit OTT.That title can be handed to some of the touts who assault you as you come into the arrivals hall, tell you 2000 baht, get the cash up front then make you sit around until the vehicle arrives, then he drives you to a petrol station and may or may not swap you into his friends car! The taxicabs, at 1500 (+50 baht waiting charge I think) isn't so bad. They seem to be good vehicles, the queue is often only a few minutes wait, and it seems more comfortable than having to traipse to the car park in 37 degC. I wouldn't say it is affluence, more tiredness that makes me waste 350 baht after travelling 17 hours.
  4. I too am having problems posting. In that first time I hit Add Reply, I am taken back to the forum summary, post has not been entered. I use the back button, hit Add Reply again, and it seems to always work 2nd time. Editing a post is no problem. Didn't think to associate that with Adblock Plus. Thank YOU!
  5. I just gave that a go under Firefox and it worked fine. I did a have some issues with Pattaya Daily News and Firefox and it seemed to stem from my Adblock Plus. I disabled some filters and things improved.
  6. China Eastern Airlines bought 16 at about 162 Million$ each so you might have a point. But still more expensive than the Boeing 767 list price.
  7. An Airbus A330 (300) is about 195-200 Million US$A 767 (300ER) is about 145-160 Million US$. Since price definitely goes against the Airbus, something else must be a factor in the higher sales. The subsidies you claim go where?

    Muslims

But which one claims to be the writings directly from the mind of God???Buddhism most certainly does not. The Crusades, your poor example, were a military expedition to reclaim lands and assist Alexius. Warmongering was a factor of those times. Let us have an example. If I was to decry or denounce Islam publically, any Miuslim would have the right by his book to kill me. No trial, for me! I could not find such instructions in the Bible. And If I denounced Jesus to the very Pope himself, I have the idea he would forgive rather than set the Swiss guards on me spears a jabbing. I don't think the Christian world is now so strict regarding blasphemy.... We rarely issue 'permission to kill fatwahs' over books or cartoons. To teach your believers like this in or modern age.....well.

    Muslims

True, from the Muslim perspective, and quite a powerful thing this is too, it is incontrovertible. But from my eyes I see the evidence of a man's input there, an ancient man. And that is also a problem, the ones who are making problems do believe they are living by the Quoran...... It permits the killing of all who oppose it. Glorifies death in it's name.....

    Muslims

Yes and the very title of it made me think of a JFK quote..ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country. The European Muslims have not made the effort to integrate, they have worn their religion on their sleeves, degraded the very country they inhabit and generally behaved like a bad guest. So I say It's Muslims are failing Europe......
  11. Homeworks or HomePro maybe!
  12. Bite the bullet mate..perhaps it was time for a new one anyhow... This could be indicative of a few probles, poor rechargeable batteries, charger is defective, there is some leakage. They probably used quite cheap rechargeable batteries and they have a high failure rate. I am a cheap charlie and have messed about with 8-9 of those mosquito zapper bats swapping batteries to get a couple that hold the charge and fry the bugs pretty well. Good luck....

    Penang!

Penang isn't what you are looking for. I took the TGF and stayed at a beach resort, and had a good trip. Nice beaches, good seafood, expensive relative to LOS.Not really a mongering place.... why not Phnom Pehn?
  14. Yes, I felt that too but I am a bit of a 'pig'......Perhaps aimed at getting you to have a dessert or some extra onion rings. Still a good fish even if I found the use of the word 'loin' applied to cod as confusing. Didn't know fish had an area between the ribs and rump... or even ribs and a rump? Some places are serving up freshwater fish, some which are too soft and absorb too much oil during cooking. At a Thai seafood place I tend to avoid the all too common 'snapper' and go for a grouper, but they are quite expensive now.
  15. Everywhere serves up fish and chips in Pattaya, but lately you could be forgiven for not knowing what type of fish you were getting. I saw this place advertised on Pattaya 1, and HM looks like a man who knows his food so I thought I would give it a go. Here is another review.... which will give more detail for those who want it. Located between Soi 7 & 8 on the fun side of 2nd rd, good place to fill up before a beer bar or two. A couple of seats outside for the smokers but I prefer to get away from the 2nd rd pollution, so went into the bright, traditional interior. It's a single shop house so long and thin, but quite pleasnt. Cod fillet, chips and mushy peas for me, with a slice and a soda, about 260 baht. A bit more than some cheaper eateries.. Service polite and attentive, and a bit of a wait as there were 4-5 ahead of me. It looked great on arrival, the fish had obviously been freshly cooked, and was perfect. Great batter, flakey and white flesh, very nice. Chips tasted good, although the portion was more Thai than farang size. Glad I ordered a slice. The mushy peas were poor, a small cold serving that had likely been sat on a cold plate awaiting the fish, if they were indeed ever hot. They were pured garden peas, hence overly sweet and not the real deal. (Do they actually serve mashed garden peas anywhere in the UK?).
  16. You just mentioned for the first time that a bike before you was loaded and charged at 100 baht. Although that guy might have lived on the island and be subject to a better price. Ask at the kiosk how much it should be.......
  17. Looks like the people who rent you the crappy bikes over on Koh Larn are making sure it costs more to bring your own over, than to rent one of theirs!I know I had to pay for my bike, and the truck it was on the back of, going over to Koh Chang, but that is of course a ro-ro.
  18. Lucky you.... but I still have my hearing.I pay extra to get a good nights rest on the way to and from LOS. Yakking on your telephone is something that should also be put to bed.
  19. For heaven's sake, do not expect to stay in Poipet, it is an absolute shithole. Most Cambo border towns are pretty horrible..... How about a trip to Vientienne?
  20. Well, that crosses them off my list of options. Bad enough in the lounge having some cretin nearby yelling into his mobile, but on an aircraft with a fair selection of our ME friends there is little point to a lie flat bed if there are people talking on their mobiles!
  21. Use a search engine......
  22. Yes, Man United were the better side and deserved the win.......
  23. Yes.....I have used them Biz Class on the Amsterdam-Bangkok route quite a few times. Punctual. Good service. Food fair, not great. IFE poor.... Seat poor..... it was the non-flat wide seat that was common in Biz class a decade ago. Singapore Airlines they aren't, but I thought I got fair value for the price, and was able to avoid the knob heads in economy.
  24. Post 2 looks good. They advertise this place a lot so must need the work. Although for some reason they wouldn't touch my Fluke meter, but wanted a sizeable deposit off me to send it to the Service centre in Bangkok.
  25. I must agree, they are hardly artisans. If you need holes digging, trenches, drain pipes laying they can do. But any concreting will be shoddy and look like hell. They will leave wet concrete in your guttering or pour it into your drains rather than clean up properly. They are often not Thais but casual Cambodian labour picked up on street corners. Oh, and some are quite good at standing around telling you at the top of their voice how much they know while throwing cigarettes ends all over your garden, leaving rubbish everywhere and treating your home like their personal doss house. (They bring their wives and kids who run around unwatched.) I have found a good electrician, a rough but cheap general contractor who I have to stand over and nag, but plumbing, which is mostly gluing together prefabricated plastic parts I take on myself. It's a piece of piss. Oh and gardeners steal all your hose fittings too!
