Interesting. It's been a couple of years since I was there. Do they still disallow smoking in the terminal?

aside: Love the Taipei airport. The internet rooms and smoking rooms are the the same size, off the main isle to the gate lounges. And that is enough for about 5 computer stations lined up - six maybe. But you can tell the difference, the smoking lounges are sometimes so full of smoke it looks like a good thick London or San Francisco fog. Unlike what you mention, you do not want to be near the smoking room door when it opens, if you are a non-smoker.
