Review: LK The Empress Hotel (w/photos)
Spock replied to Harvey's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
The LK Group have 16 hotels & resorts. Stayed at the LK Renaissance the year I notice the LK The Empress was being build on Beach Road. It's the newest hotel of the LK Group, have stayed there 8 times to date, last time this August. Good location, reasonable breakfast buffet with some variety every day but it can be boring if staying for 4 weeks. The only issues is the open restaurant no air conditioning and hot water & water pressure in the room. It can be hit or miss depending on the time of day. Also if you have more than one guest they will charge you THB500 for the second guest. O -
Sad fact the spirits are more often water down or of poor quality. You expect a Gin & tonic pour from a Gordon gin bottle would have constant taste for a average gin but often this is not the case from bar to bar. Sometimes its better just to order beer to avoid the ripped offs.

LK Empress Impressions and Photos
Spock replied to MC_Ldop's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Stay for 3 weeks in June. Newer hotel, good location, guest friendly but they will charge if two or more guests, breakfast is good, service is reasonable. I do recommend the hotel but bear in mind it's not cheap due to it's location. I will stay again next year.- 15 replies

Songkran is meant to run for a fews days in most parts of Thailand.. But in Pattaya is worse as it runs well over a week, mainly a tourist thing. It's all about money. It can be dangerous on the road, getting infected by dirty water is not good, laptops, cameras & phones need to be protected to avoid water damage, being attacked by drunken locals & tourists alike and some shops are closed over this period...It's neverending even at night they still thow water at you.. I know a few locals who get out od Dodge at this time of year. Nevertheless the last day is the best as they closed Bea

Not good.. I am in same vote but it's not the end of the world.. Fortunately mind is non medication for diabetics, but I do suffer from high blood pressure & sleep apnea. Managed to lose 10kg (now 94kg) thru exercise, diet, limiting alcohol, regularly checking my glucose levels, annual eye examinations..in all it's under control now, just by taking advice from my doctor. The bad news is alcohol & thai food is not too healthy, high in sugar, oil, salt & the wrong type of rice. Your hotel should be able to cater for breakfast at least.. Ground transportation options - BKK / Pattaya
Spock replied to FarSider's topic in Transport in Thailand
Bear in mind the last bus leaves at 18.00 from the Airport to Pattaya. -
Better to book in advance - why need the stress of finding a hotel, especially after a long flight & road trip. A waste of valuable party time.

In the end everybody discriminate to some extent. Even Indians, take a look at their Hindu caste system.

Try Citibank they have offices in Singapore, Thailand, USA & Australia. Easy to transfer monies between related accounts.

In the end its a matter of choice, its your holiday and its your money. In my past travels, I have stayed in tents, shared dormitory accommodation and in third world hotels were you a lucky to have electricuty for a few hours a day, cold showers and a bucket of water to flush the toilet. When in BKK I stay at the Landmark, the beds are comfortable but I still go Foodlands to get my six pack of beer.
