IMHO, I think arriving at any destination and not having a room set up is a very bad idea. You'll be arriving in Pattaya around 2am in the morning. You'll be tired after a long flight, or you might be anxious to get out and about. You walk into a hotel and you find it is full, you could then proceed to spend the next couple of hours trying to find a room. Why not find a room for you first two nights and then during the day find additional accommodation?

Thank God for that. As I said I would hate that someone who is was so excited to come to Thailand falling into an all too common trap then becoming dissillusioned and then hating this place. The longer you stay on this board you'll see newbies come on, and time after time make the same mistakes. It's good to see at least there's one who listens to the advice given to him. Remember a lot of time advice given on this board is given from the point of view that we've seen or made those same mistakes and want people to learn from our mistakes. RightSaid.

Actually ego's got nothing to do with it. Based on reading his first and only post dated 26 January where he describes his forthcoming trip to Pattaya on 5th of March as the most exciting event in his entire life and seeking advice. And now followed by a desperate plea for the contact number or email address of a bar. One hopes that he hasn't fallen into the all too familiar trap, a lot of newbies fall into on their first visit of falling in love with the first girl to cross his path.

Let me guess. A first time newbie now back home who's just returned from their first time in Pattaya (5th March) and has found the girl of dreams. Most likely given a lot of advice by board members prior to his trip eg, don't fall in love etc etc, and then promptly forgot all the advice given to him when the first lady smiled at him? Next we'll have a post on how to send money to his true love. Tell me it isn't so Sorry if I'm being cynical but this looks way too familiar.

Why an internet cafe? A few options: 1. Why not see if you can find a hotel that offers WiFi? 2. Go places like Starbucks or Shenigans (I'm sure there are others) that have WiFi. Have breakfast or lunch and surf the net. 3. Misty's Ago Go which has free WiFi. Go in sit down have a beer, surf the net and look at the girls. I'm sure there are other options available. I usually carry two items as carry on and never had a problem. In addition I've never had my carry on weighed.

Hi db74, Dress in Pattaya is casual. Shorts, jeans or slacks. Singlets, tshirts or shirts. Thongs, runners or shoes. Take your pick you won't be out of place. RightSaid.

I would suggest any of the hotels in Soi 13, Sandy Springs, Haven, AA, AA Residence or Dynasty Inn. Main reason being it would be a little easier for a first timer to navigate around. Walk down to Beach Rd and you have access to Walking St. Walk up to Second Rd and you have access to the lower Sois.

Couldn't agree more. I usually take an early mark off work and catch either the 1530 or 1730 flight from Sydney. Arriving at either 2130 or 2300. I used to go straight to Pattaya but now with the early closures I go straight to my hotel near Nana Plaza. There I usually have my favourite lady waiting for me at my hotel otherwise straight to Nana.
