I love the Clash. This is such a great album and arguably their best. It was their biggest seller and went double platinum in the US. The lyrics of this track are brilliant. Some of them are about the abandonment of children that were fathered by American soldiers during the Vietnam war. Like many of their lyrics, it's also about injustice - unemployment in England as a result of declining industries and the alienation of non English speaking immigrants in British society. As a big fan it's hard for me to pick a favourite album of theirs but this album has a special place in my heart because the photo for the album cover was taken in Thailand. The original CD has liner notes which fold out into a poster of the band. This was also taken from the same shoot as the album cover. Years ago, (before I became fanatical about them and knew nothing of their Asian tour when this happened) I showed it to the missus and it was her that noticed that the Coke cans they were drinking from in the photo were Thai ones. With this album, that was the icing on the cake.
