Bump. The freebies have all been bought and paid for folks and we'll kick the whole thing into gear at 18.00. My post was nothing whatsoever to do with who is fair game or not. My missus is my partner in Ace Cafe, she manages the place and as such will be at work all night, so cannot be bar fined. What she does after we close is entirely up to her.

Well I'm off back to work at the end of June after a 2 month sabbatical........ got meself a brand spanking new Drillship in Korea to kit out so I'm throwing a "I'm off outa here" bash this coming Friday at the Ace. Also the Mango has been hinting at doing summat in Jomtien to try to persuade some of you Pattaya-ites to get your arses over to Jomtien for a piss-up as it's been bloody yonks since that's been done so we're joining forces and putting on a combined piss-fest........ there will be a free snack buffet, free draught beer (till it runs out) and all bottled beer will be only 50 baht, all night. And ice fuckin' cold too! Women? Yep, there will be women! Loose women, bawdy women, sexy women.............. available women! Bar fines will be 300 baht and the wenches will be bar-fineable after 10pm. (Please note that the Ace staff, which includes my missus, are not bar fineable. Neither will my gf be. It will not take a genius to work out who is staff and who is available.) There may be an "unplugged" jam session........ Bruce has promised to bring his Jew's Harp so we're looking for strummers, thrummers and warblers........ do you fit the bill? Everything should kick off around dusk....... I really hope you'll try to make the effort to find Jomtien and come enjoy yourself........ you will be sure to meet some old friends and make some new....... hell, I'll even get you your first beer......... s'long as it's draught!

We do Somtam Sunday (free somtam for your missus..... as much as she can eat and the beauty is if she has her own recipe she can "pok-pok" to her hearts delight........ we supply the ingredients but the customer can choose to build her own, or have my gang do it!) every week but because we are a wee bit of a petrol head cafe we always attract more of the "beer 'n' banter brigade" whenever there is F1 or MotoGP. Good clean fun, no bargirls, it's def a "BYO" place. (But our staff are very easy on the eye!)

Hanuman Corner is the big sweeping right hander that takes you from the very bottom of Thapraya Hill down to Jomtien Beach. The golden Hanuman statue is quite small so easy to miss but I hope the pic makes it easier. Our little corner is the last part of the road "repairs" that have been going on since the dawn of time....... the cafe is the last shop house unit on the row........ you can just about see our big black and white ace of clubs logo sign (which is now black, white and orange) below the 7-Eleven one in the pic. Plenty of parking, excuse the dust! Make yourself known, first beer's on me.

Title says it all folks........ if anyone's around and fancies watching the F1 (Turkish) and somewhere to take your tirac come on over to the Ace Cafe at Hanuman's Dirty Corner....... there'll be loads of somtam to keep your lady happy, some finger pickin' bar snacks, a few guys to bullshit 'n' banter with................ up to you, as they say in Old Siam! The Thai guy is absolutely 100% focused on his job, the TKD fighter is too preoccupied with fannying about with his "gi" and trying to look good, with a silly smirk on his face. No competition. These guys learn in infancy, and their shins are friggin impervious to pain! Don't fuck with a Thai. (He'll have friends too!)

I guess there's info here but I cannot find it so am posting a new thread. Does anyone have valuable relevant info on renewing an expired 5 year Thai driving license? I am here at the mo on a 30 day Visa On Arrival. I have been told by one of our Visa people in Pattaya that (he's 99% sure) you only need a Non Imm Visa to apply for your first, initial Thai driving license, but that I should be able to re-new mine on my VOA. Anyone else done this? Anyone have info? I guess I need a letter of proof of residency from the Old Bill, a Medical Cert and photos.......... anyone else out there renewed a Thai DL on a VOA? No time wasters please. Cheers.

Vientienne is very hit and miss..... I had a terrific and very hot meal (about 4 dishes) there last week with great service. Before that was there 2 months ago and it was absolutely dreadful....... awful service and chef didn't do such a good job....... we ended with the manager serving us and there were only about another 12 customers in the joint! So from last weeks report everything is on the up and up........ I ride past it most days so I'll let you know if I see it open again today. Cheers.

You'll stand much more chance of a quick rent if you post photos. To be honest 15 seems a bit much for a small studio in the current climate. But good luck.

Correct..... I'd rather buy the gherkins already pickled and then play with differing quantities of onions 'n' mayo etc rather than the far more laborious task of pickling me own baby cucumbers!

Title asks the question folks. Anyone know the answer? Friendship? Foodland? Gonna be making my own Tartar sauce. Gherkins, same species as cucumber, pickled when about 3" long are best.

G'man you sound half sensible and I'm sure you may have something of interest to say to some folk here, but please could you use paragraphs? Your diatribe account is just not the pleasure it could be to read when presented thus. Also please don't lose heart when we all don't fall over ourselves bothering with your photo request........ it may come as a suprise to you but there's an awful lot of folk in Pattaya think you have a large number of screws loose and just are not interested in you. I know, dreadful, innit!

If you're really interested in letting it out it might be an idea to post some pics and info? Y'know, like those real estate chappies do... seems to work for them.
