Loy Kratong is a water festival .which the thais celebrate with kratongs to the water gods basically .last year we went to Pak which is near Sukhotai and its a real carnival feel to it .markets,food,processions.music,and 10,000 kratongs each with a lighted candle float down river after 2 large floats for king and queen of Thailand go first .then you see hot air balloons ,go up into sky at intervals it is quite breathtaking .
