  1. Unofficially, Songkran has always been a month long. It's regionally celebrated (with water chucking) for different one-week periods. No change to that is envisioned, the government is going to sponsor other cultural events during the month. https://thepattayanews.com/2024/02/08/thailand-to-celebrate-21-days-of-songkran-in-april-really/ "Basically, the 21 days of Songkran is nothing new. Different parts of Thailand have celebrated the festival on different days for various reasons for decades. Pattaya’s big day, for example, is April 19th, partly to encourage domestic tourism after
  2. Badum bump TSSSSS! He's here all week, folks! Don't forget to tip your waiters and waitresses! And, try the veal!
  3. IMO one of the most underrated guitarists in history. Listen for George Harrison on slide.
  4. I wonder how long it will take them to work out why nobody is paying by the month?
  5. The old airport in Hong Kong was a hoot too. http://www.squidoo.com/kai-tak
  6. Thanks mate. I take a sequence of adjoining photos, making sure there is some detail shared between each pair of adjacent photos, then use a software package called Autostitch to join them. Free download here: http://cvlab.epfl.ch/~brown/autostitch/autostitch.html
  7. A summary of the weather as of about 15 minutes ago: The thunder was mostly coming from a thunderstorm cell I figure was not far from Laem Chabang. Over Pattaya (photo right) it appears to be raining pretty steadily. Here in Jomthien (center, photo left) we've had intermittent showers. Presently we're having a moderate strength shower with the sun attempting to poke its way out at the same time.
  8. Great! Hope you enjoy. Please let us know your impressions.
  9. Yep, that's the special I mention in my review! Not to be missed!
  10. Agree Ron. It's too bad Pete's board persona isn't more like his real-life personality. Of course, the same could be said about me...
  11. By all means, would be interested in your impressions.
  12. By the way people, "thedodger" turns out to be Pete/Poggle/Darkside, so his remarks should be considered in that light. I doubt he's even been to Thailand since HR opened in fact. Any mod who saw fit to remove his remarks from this thread would have my gratitude.
  13. When you consider the many ways restaurants have of making it look like they've given you more food than they have, coming across a place that actually gives a good portion size of the main course is quite refreshing.
  14. I don't like when restaurants stack the plate with fries and other stuff to try distracting you from the tiny main course. In this case the steak was nice and big; I don't even think I finished the fries.
  15. Got this from Ron at HR: Kitchen is 11:00 to 10:00 PM Sun-Thursday and open till 11 PM on Friday and Saturday. Those are the minimum hours and quite often we will stay open later or open earlier if a major event is on the boob tube! Bar is open to WHENEVER! Never closes before Midnight!
  16. Thanks for the comments guys. About the opening hours, I've e-mailed Ron to ask. The website has their e-mail address and phone number. They also have a Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=1495...8196&v=wall
  17. Understood. I'm sure next time you'll get what you want. To be absolutely positive, you can chat with Craig or Ron and they'll make sure your order is filled correctly.
