Beautiful 20th floor 1 bed/2bath seaview condo for rent in View Talay 5C
js007 replied to ericg1953's topic in The Market
Sure, nobody wants to live in a cheap dump. Obviously, a person could find a place for much less than 15K per month. I guess everyone makes their own budget decisions. I've seen plenty of rentals in the 15K range that look very nice. Those would work for me. The only time I'd tend to splurge would be if I was buying a unit. -
I don't see anything wrong with people expressing their opinions. It might keep some poor sucker from making a mistake, especially in a market like Pattaya with all its scams.

Yep. A nice condo in the 15K baht range. I think that's the kind of thing most guys would be looking for. Someplace nice, but not too expensive. Perhaps someone on a short term holiday wouldn't mind a higher price, but for the long term renter, 25K baht seems like a lot of money to be throwing away every month unnecessarily. I'd rather waste the extra 10K baht on wine women and song. -
A couple of years ago I was staying on Soi LK Metro during the super bowl and one of the bars there was showing the game, as I could hear everyone cheering while I was trying to sleep.

Maybe. I'm not familiar with the rental prices on the larger units, as I never really look at them. For me, a single unit would be fine and those are usually priced in the 15,000 baht per month range or a little less. That's all I'd really want to pay for rent in Pattaya, in any event. Of course, purchasing s place would be another matter. If I were to do that, I'd want the place to be as nice as possible, within a reasonable price range. -
US Customs destroying person property without reasonable suspicion

I've seen them pick out people for special searches, but I never saw they cutting up any clothes. I've never had a problem in LA, Detroit, Minneapolis, or JFK. They just waive me through. -
Ifyou walk around some of the back streets of Pattaya, you'll probably be able to find a few places with rooms in that price range. But those types of places probably don't have web sites, so trying to find one on the internet might be somewhat difficult. I can remember a few years back reading a post some guy put up about his girlfriend and the small apartment she was renting for 3500 a month, so I guess it's possible to find something cheap.

Nice condo, but expensive. If I were to ever rent a condo in Pattaya, I'm sure I could keep it under 15,000 baht per month. -
Heaven Above’s X-Mas Parties, Mon-Tue 24-25 Dec

I never paid attention to the price of the bar fines, but for sure I've never encountered the 5000 baht LT. Then again, I've seen at least one girl in the place that would probably be worth it. -

I've always had a decent time in HA. As for contact with the girls? Maybe it's just the layout of the bar. Depending on where you sit, you might be at one end of the long bar and out of the line of sight. Regardless, I'd like to be there now. Instead, I'm looking out the window at a stupid blizzard. -
Here in the USA ,everything I've ever ordered from the Apple store has been delivered via FedEx. I can track the stuff all the way from China to my front door. Of course, maybe they use DHL for Thailand deliveries.
-
Can't you just send them an email and ask them? Or call?
-
Interesting pictures. One of my cameras would do that, as I recall, but I never bothered to try it. Looks nice, though.

I try to keep an open mind about it. As far as other stuff being in the USA burgers? It depends. I can go to the store and buy ground chuck, ground sirloin, or whatever. They don't put anything into it. When making burgers, I can do it however I want. Just the meat, or, I can add bread crumbs, cheese, onions, or whatever. For all I know in Thailand, I'm eating Cocker Spaniel or the neighborhood cat. The local meat just seems strange.

One time on TV I saw a show about bizarre Thai foods. The host of the show was up in Issan at a food market, shopping for food. He picket out a rat, wrapped in plastic. That and some other stuff. Then, he found a vendor to cook it all up for him. I suppose that's not uncommon.

How can they screw up breakfast? If they can't get that right, what can they do?
-
Slightly off topic, but doesn't Thailand have GPS location devices? I think even the smart phones can do that these days. Download an app and you're all set. Just enter an address and the phone will tell you how to get there.

I've more or less given up on eating hamburgers in Thailand. Not that I haven't tried. For whatever reason, the meat always tastes "funny." I've said this before and everyone says it's just the type of beef available in Thailand. Maybe the cows have a different diet? I still remember the first time I ever tried a burger in Thailand, at the old Woodstock Bar in Nana Plaza. It had the strangest taste. Anyway, I've tried other places from time to time with similar results.

I've used DHL out of Pattaya and I've used DHL into Phuket. Both times everything went OK, although for the Phuket delivery the guy had to call me to get directions to my guest house.

Pattaya: what is the best street to stay?
js007 replied to TheHunter's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Every once in a while, I tell myself I'm going to stay on Soi Six for a few weeks. There's a few hotels there, as well as all the bars that rent rooms. Ruby Bar; Tornado Bar, etc. -

All I know is that I've been on baht busses at 4AM, 4:30AM, etc. I'm not sure what happens after that. I think they keep going, as people are out partying all night long. Hell, I can recall going to breakfast at 7AM or so and there are still people in the bars drinking from the night before. For $30 you should be able to find a nice guesthouse. Hotels seem to want to charge more than that. -

So long as you're on a baht bus route, I wouldn't worry too much about where to stay. Using the baht buses, you can mover around fairly easily for not much money. Each part of Pattaya has its strong points. Soi 13 is good, but so are Soi 7 and Soi 8. Or just about anywhere. What's you budget? -
Let' face it, the change fees usually aren't all that much. If, by some chance, you have to change your ticket, just pay the small fee if necessary and be done with it. I changed my ticket once on Thai Air and no charge. I changed once on Delta and it cost me $150, as i recall. Did I bitch? No. I just paid it and was glad they could squeeze me into the next flight to the USA.
