  1. There may also still be an application called Mapjack that covers some of Thailand. I'll try to find a link. http://www.mapjack.com
  2. i forget the details, but one time I ordered something wrong but the vendor wouldn't stop the order. So, I called the credit card company and the charge hadn't gone through. The lady was nice enough to cancel the whole account and give me a new card and account number. The charge didn't go through and the vendor didn't sell me anything.
  3. That sounds exactly like the kind of stupid thing I would do. Sometimes I'm just a scatterbrain, and sometimes I think I should probably use my reading glasses when doing something important. Not to long ago I was trying to take some money out of my brokerage and instead, I deposited some. Of course, that screwed up my checking account.
  4. I think you burn some calories just sitting around doing nothing. Exercise is a good thing, though. One time I used to run 4-5 miles every morning without fail. In the afternoon I'd take a walk on the boardwalk at the beach. I got so much exercise every day that I could eat anything I wanted and never gain any weight.
  5. Off the top of my head: the sandwich is 900 calories. Running a mile and a half? 400 calories. Go run another mile and a half.
  6. I've had bad food in Pattaya on occasion. I'm not sure if they were trying to poison me or whether they sere just serving rotten food. I've never written about it, though. With my luck, the owner would put out a contract on my life. I just avoid the places in the future.
  7. I hope you guys that are lucky enough to b there realize what you have. Even on non-party days, the place is rather unique on Planet Earth.
  8. Whatever North Korea is going to do, they're supposed to do it tomorrow. Supposedly, they're going to fire a missile. And if they do? If it's something more than a test, the response will happen instantly. Five weeks from now, it'll all be over.
  9. Laptops should work fine. Just be sure to check the voltage input requirements. Ditto for cell phones and their chargers and camera batteries and their chargers. Some hair driers work ok also, if you flip the little switch to 220. Of course, you can buy a cheap hair drier in Thailand, so why bother to bring one? My advice: travel light, and if there's something you really need, buy it in Thailand.
  10. Someone on one of the forums once speculated that a factory near Pattaya might be emitting an industrial pollutant that was causing all the coughing. Makes some sense, but I never looked into it.
  11. Yes, but Pattaya isn't the only place that has AC. And yet I've never had the problem in Bangkok or Phuket. Dirty AC filters are an easy answer, but I think there's something more to it.
  12. If I were buying a condo, I wouldn't care so much who my neighbors were, so long as they didn't act like idiots. In other words, no loud music at 4AM, etc.
  13. I never have figured out why I get this only in Pattaya. Every time I visit Pattaya, I get sick. Sometimes it takes a few weeks, but it always happens. I get a terrible cough. And yet if I change locations, it usually resolves. I never have the problem in Phuket. I never have the problem in Bangkok. I never have the problem anywhere in the USA. Just Pattaya.
  14. Aside from what Thai Airways has to offer, isn't there a day hotel or some such thing somewhere in the airport where you can rent a room for a few hours or by the day? Depending on the cost, that might suffice.
  15. Just Google "skin tags."You'll get a bunch of pictures. Here's one:
  16. I looked it up. Apparently, obesity is a risk factor, but that's about it. You can still get them, even if you're not obese. I had one remove the last time I was at a dermatologist. A small shot to numb the area and he burned it off. Problem solved.
  17. I guess I've just been lucky. Sure, hotels can be better. But what's the typical price? More like 3000 - 6000 baht for a good hotel. For that you get a nice room, breakfast, etc.
  18. Sure, but haven't you been in perfectly fine guest houses in the 800 baht range? I have. Super clean, well maintained, cable tv, air conditioning, wi-fi. What more could you want?
  19. 1500-1800? Seems to be too high to be cheap, and not high enough to be luxury. I'd forget about the price range and look for a good location and a comfortable place. After all, you're not in Pattaya to sit around in a hotel room.
  20. I've had good luck with the honorary Thai consulate in Houston. Try for a triple entry visa. It might cost you a bit more, but not too much more. Should be less than $100.
  21. I hope you didn't lend him too much. Every once in a while, I'll lend money to someone. I never really expect to see it again, but I do it anyway. I consider it charity.
  22. A triple entry tourist visa. Each "entry" gives you sixty days, which can be extended, in Thailand, for an additional 30 days for a small payment. So, if you play your cards right, you can stretch out the triple entry visa to almost a year by doing a visa run now and then. I suppose that when the first triple entry visa expires, you could fly to Kuala Lumpur or somewhere and get another one.
  23. Just yesterday, I was talking to my brother about the same problem. He had been fooling around all day with Windows 8 and a bunch of pictures he was trying to resize. His conclusion was that Windows 8 was a "piece of shit."
  24. I suppose the government will appeal the case to the Supreme Court.
